Actually I'm helping a friend plan and someone else gave her the advice to split meals between her and her husband and then the two kids. Is this allowed? For example, doing a sit down supper and sharing one entree, appetizer, and dessert and not ordering for the other one.

Unfortunately, this question is not explicitly answered in the brochure, and when folks have asked Disney, consistently, in recent months, the answer has been no ("sharing is not permitted"), though as far as we know, every restaurant, as is their prerogative, makes exceptions. So unfortunately, the best we can tell your friend is "ask" but don't be surprised if ..., and be prepared for ..., the request to be denied.

What about sharing counter service? That is fine, right? I was thinking that is what I might do with my kids depending on the portions. I figured it would work because it's usually one person placing the order at the counter.

Unfortunately, this is something that really only each eatery can answer, though I don't see how they could prevent sharing at CS. This would be so much clearer if different parts of Disney simply started talking to each other...

We intend to share counter service but not table service. As only one person places the order for CS, when sitting down to eat no-one will know whether it is a DDP or OOP meal and OOP sharing is DEFINITELY allowed.
