I have my SSR tour booked for next week. With the Pound / Dollar rate I will be paying for it next week.

I have worked out the next three years holidays. They would use an average of 155 points ( some slightly higher some lower).I am therefore going to buy 170 points.

I am going in October this year and from then on due to school I am always going to go in July/August. I have never canceled a holiday and would be booking the flights probably a year in advance and taking advantage of the 11/7 month windows to the day.

Can someone tell me what would be the best use year ( depending on what is available of course) As " use year" is something I cannot get my head round!

When signing the "deed" do I have to have it notorised in America and will Disney prepare it so I can sign it before I come home or will they send it to me?

One last question...are the incentives clearly advised or do you have to haggle for them?

Thanks very much in advance....I am so excited for next week!

You would probably want to choose a use-year a few months prior to your travel months. You definitely don't want one that falls just after your travel. We have an October use-year, and my Labor Day (September) reservations always make me nervous... :)

You can definitely sign all of your documents while at WDW.

There is no negotiation on your DVC deal when buying thru Disney. There may be a couple of options, but no negotiation on price.

Enjoy your membership!

As for use yr. , we typically like to travel in Dec. Our DVC sales person told us a Aug. use yr would be good. We recently booked a Oct trip and had no problems. You sound like us taking advantage of the 11 mos window so you shouldnt run into many snags.

Disney want make you haggle, all incentives will be clear, you need to tell them which incentive you prefer if more than 1 is available. Other than that there want be any negotiating.

Good luck and Pixie dust!

If all your financing is set, you can complete all the paperwork right at Disney. If you need to think about it or arranging financing back home, I would ask them how you can complete the paperwork by mail (if it is possible for overseas transactions).

No haggling. Disney doesn't cut any individual deals.

We do most of our travelling in July/Aug, too. So we chose an April use year. June might have been a safe choice as well. From what you've written about your future vacation trends, perhaps you should consider those months.

June. I vote for June. If you have to take July, I'd thin you'd be ok with that too.

I vote for June or July, too for use year.

Anyoen know if these use years are avavilable right now?

Definetly no haggling, but you might wnat to be sure you understand whatever deals they are ofering for buying SSR.
I'm sure soemoen on here can be of help in thsi area..

Good luck and congrats!

Thanks for the replies!

I'm glad theres no haggling as that makes me nervous...I'm grateful any incentives are clear.

Hopefully a May / June use year will be available.

Finanace is a credit card so should be pretty straightforward it sounds like!

Thanks again.............::MinnieMo

Yes, and this is an exceptionally good time for you to be buying, with the weak us$ and relatively strong £ sterling.
I believe that DVD has a license to sell in the UK, and so I am sure arrangements could be possible before your arrival in WDW. When we were down this past October, there were lots of Brits, immediately identifiable by their Footie shirts, esp National team ones (both ENG & SCO, who were playing that wkend), but also Man U, Arsenal and the odd Leeds Utd, West Ham and even QPR and Sheffield Wednesday (just my tally for the week). :p Next week is a great time to be there before American schools break for vacation, so fewer crowds.

Use years, most of the time, aren't really an issue. But saying that if at anytime you have to cancel a holiday it could become an issue very quickly. In order to easy any problems in that unlikely event it's helpful to have a use year that's a fair distance away from the time you most often travel. Where a potential problem could occur is that, for example, if you holiday in July/August and had a use year of Sept/Oct. If you had a holiday booked and you were forced to cancel at the last minute due to an emergency there are situations where your points would be put into a "holding account" , they wouldn't be able to be banked for the next use year so you have to use them by the end of that "use year". You could be forced to cancel a holiday in August and then be in the position you have to use the points by the end of September. For that reason I would suggest, for you, a use year of April/May. It would allow you up to 9 months to rebook your holiday, even for a Xmas holiday cancelled you would have the option of Feb half term and Easter ( if you have kids at school) to get use from your points.
