Can I return rental car early?

It was cheaper for me to rent a car from National for 5 days with Sat. nite stay than 4 days so I can use the DC coupons. Is it okay to reserve it for the five days and then return it early and not be charged extra? Thanks.

Generally no!

Not sure about National but generally if you return a rental car early they will refigure your rate to reflect the actual time and overnights you kept the car. This may cause your low weekly rate to change to a higher daily rate!

If your vacation is cut short because of a late flight you can ask to get the weekly rate for a shorter rental although it is not guaranteed.

Usually any more than 4-5 days it doesn't make a difference in the rate. You will just be charged the confirmed rate with no refund.

Nationals weekly rate is a minimum of 5 days, return it on the 4th day and you will end up paying the daily rate.
