Won't ask WHY, but if it is on a minors phone, yes, you can get access.....if you call the carrier and "explain" that there may be an issue with incoming texts not being "appropriate" ....good luck to you..........
If this is an adults cell phone, you are likely out of luck.........

Are you looking for the content of the message or just the details of who sent it and when? If you are looking for the actual content you are most likely out of luck. Cellular providers merely pass along the message and do not save the contents. If the phone uses a SIM (T-Mobil or AT&T) you may be able to retrieve erased data that same way you do from a computer hard drive, with recovery utilities. This is because of how data is stored and erased from media. If you are looking for tracking details you will most likely need a subpoena.

I helped a friend of mine try to get the websites one of her children visited on their phone. It wasn't content related but a billing dispute. Even though the phone was in her name she needed a subpoena because it was a family plan phone that was listed as her child's. This would have cost her more money then the bill because not only do you have to pay the court costs but most providers have a fee they will charge you for the time it takes to reply to a civil subpoena (there is no fee for replying to a criminal subpoena). This was Verizon, so others may differ.

there is a site and I forget what it is now that actually helps you monitor who calls and what the texts are. You pay a little fee and you can see everything..but you have to do it in advance. So If that parent is saying that he could be telling the truth about seeing the info and mispoke about getting it from the phone company. Hmmm...this is interesting. I wonder how it works in conjunction with the cell company as well. I'm sure there are programs/ways out there to check text content, not just record, but this particular parent told me they check from the cell company directly. I've always had my doubts, but no grounds to dispute it (with myself, not with the parent.) This is a program I could see some parents using though. It's just the way they roll.
Me personally? Not that we monitor 24/7, but we do ask to see the texts, sometimes unannounced. We pay=we have access. Everone's ok with it.

So I went to the link and watched the newscast - there's a cell phone program that you can essentially monitor other people's phones (conversations, texts, everything)! All you need is the phone #! Since my ex would try anything to make life difficult, short of never using a cell again, does anyone know if people use programs like this, can they be used in court? If one person is essentially tapping another persons phone, is that legal? I looked it up for NY, but couldn't find any answers. Does anyone know? TIA!

So those people like Tiger's mistresses have just kept their txts then? I was thinking they were able to be found. And it seems that the news shows talk about txts sent all the time & info in them like it wasn't an ordeal to get the info
