Can I Really Keep My Mouth Shut For The Next 6 Months? Update 6/4 Link to TR

followed your PTR over from the Disney Theme Nights thread, and just finished reading it throught ;)

I have the same, disney shopping obsession as you ;) our trip is a very long ways off and I've been stashing stuff for over a year already LOL.

I'm so happy to read your report on the tea party from Saturday, I was so bummed to have missed it, my youngest two have been sick all weekend :( and didn't think they'd like the 80 minute drive to MOA :( oh well, it looks like it was a lot of fun.

I've been working on a list of Disney Theme nights for our kids, and love all of your ideas! Can't wait to follow along the rest of your ptr!

Thanks for reading! So glad to know I'm not the only compulsive Disney shopper out there, lol. I really need to stop but it's hard!

That stinks about your kids being sick this past weekend. Check your Disney Store and see if there are any events in February, ours is doing a Mickey Valentines Day party on the 12th!

So since my DH is out of town I decided to do a last night Up night with the kids. And I must say although this was thrown together at the last minute it was a big hit! While the boys were in school, Emily and I picked up balloon decor at Walmart and the Dollar Tree but we could not find anything Up related. Emily wanted to find a Dug plush but a trip to The Disney Store was not in the plans. So we made due with what we had and it turned out great :) Before the boys got home we made the cupcakes and decorated the dining room, Em was very excited to surprise the boys with movie night! Soon after arriving home from school it was time to watch the movie, I like to watch the movie before dinner because my kids go to bed pretty early and if it were watched after I don't think they'd make it. After the movie we had dinner, the menu was of course hot dogs, we also had fries and corndogs for Sam (who suddenly does not like regular hot dogs :confused3) We drank grape soda and had balloon cupcakes for dessert. After dinner we made balloon animals which was lots of fun, my DS15 and I must have spent close to an hour making animals. That $5 I spent on the little kit was well worth it! Then we played the Find the Squirrel game (an idea I got from here) the kids loved this, they played several times after I made sure each one of them had gotten a chance to win. Their prizes were Kevin's favorite chocolate bars. It was a really fun night, out of all of the ones we've done so far this has been one of our favorites!

Thanks! Love to hear all about your theme nights! I like to get ideas from others!

I love your Up themed night!

While I haven't done any theme nights, nor have the kids to appreciate it, lol, I do think that spontaneous ideas somehow always turn out so great. Maybe its because you didn't have all the plans that you were able to enjoy it more? I feel like the best parties that I've hosted are the ones that were put together in a few days, instead of the ones that I'll plan for a month! ;)

Quick question for ya, I see you make lots of fun themed cupcakes. Do use a specific recipe or just a basic box mix? And what about frosting? I'm in the process of honing my baking skills and I'll take any tips I can get - ecspecially any that will make it easier!

I totally get what you mean about last minute get togethers being better than ones you've been planning forever for. I think that's because you have less time to stress about everything. Sometimes I wish I wasn't such a compulsive planner, lol. But then I guess I would have never found these boards if I wasn't huh? LOL

As far as the cupcakes, I use a basic cake mix for them. I only make cakes from scratch on special occasions. The frosting is usually from a can but occasionally I will make cream cheese frosting, which is my favorite. I wish I were a better baker, my MIL only makes stuff from scratch and puts my baking to shame. I am learning and getting a little better each time I think:)

We had a little Super Bowl party this weekend to cheer on our Steelers. I let Emily do the decorating and she went all out with the streamers, lol. We all donned our Steelers gear, Ben had to borrow one of Christian's jerseys which was hilarious because it came down to his ankles, lol. We kept the food to simple appetizers, started off with buffalo chicken dip, crabclaws and potato skins and chicken nuggets for the kids. Next we had hoagie dip and pizza dip w/ breadsticks, then came the wings and feild greens salad. And course I had to make cupcakes along with Steeler cookies made by Ben and Emily! Good food with some good friends. And even though we lost to the Packers we all still had lots of fun!

What a fun party! Too bad the team you were rooting for lost - but you get an A+ for the decorations! :) I tried to do some fun football cookies and cakes last year for a huge party that I was going to, and it ended up frustrating me so much that I didn't do it this year. But I kinda wish I had, because I would be eating the leftovers yesterday and today. Yum!

Thanks, my guys were bummed about the loss but we still had fun! The cookies came out pretty cute, Emily had fun decorating them, she's my little budding chef!

Our latest movie night was my DD's all time favorite movie, Cinderella. Her obsession with Cinderella started when she was about 1 1/2, she used to run around the house talking about Ella Ella and once she met the princess on her first trip to WDW her love of her grew even more. And then when she danced with the prince at 1900 Park Fare on her second trip we knew we had a problem, lol. Emily believes that she is destined to marry Prince Charming one day and live in the castle!

So on with our night, decor was done by Emily, she gathered a few of her Cinderella books and toys to place about the room. The menu was Royal flank steak, Regal mashed potatoes and Charming green beans. Dessert was Cinderella's pearl cupcakes. As always we watched the movie first, then while dinner was finishing up the kids did some coloring pages. After dinner we played Disneys Sing It which is always a blast. Sam's choices of songs always make me smile, what other boy chooses Mary Poppins and Lady and the Tramp as his first songs? My love of all things Disney has definately been passed down to my kids. We ended the night with a Cinderella puzzle. It was a very fun night, next up I think is A Bugs Life, we had a vote last night and it was a tie with The Incredibles but mom has the deciding vote and I haven't seen A Bugs Life in forever so that's what we're going with;)

Yesterday was our 100 day mark, of course the little guys don't know when we are going yet but DH older DS and I do so we celebrated with a little dinner. Our 100 day happened to be on Valentines Day so we did a Mickey themed Valentines dinner. Dinner was a heart shaped meatloaf for my younger children, steaks for DH, older DS and I, mashed potatoes, corn and mac and cheese. Dessert was strawberry cupcakes! After dinner the kids did a Mickey Valentines Day picture frame craft that we had gotten at the Disney store.

You have a beautiful family!

Thanks so much for reading along! I think your kids are at a great age to start the theme nights! It's funny because my kids are so used to doing them every weekend lately that when my younger boys got off of the bus this afternoon the first thing my DS7 said to me was "what movie are we doing tonight?". When I told him we weren't doing one this weekend he was bummed. Now I'm thinking I should throw something small together, lol!

I've been doing as much research as I can on the Star Wars Weekends. :darth: I know how crazy DHS can get on SWW so I thought Friday would be our best day to go. We have decided that we are just going to wing it this day , DH and I have agreed that we really don't have any interest in getting any of the celebrities autographs so we won't have to stake out DHS too early but we do want to see some characters and see the parade. Lunch is up in the air, we'll probably end up in any CS place that's happens to be where we are when we get hungry. And we have ADR's for Ohanas at 7:20pm. The plan is to leave DHS by 5pm so we can run back to Pop and shower and change for dinner.

Basic schedule of our day

6:00am - Wake up and get over to Pop (remember we are staying outside of WDW our first night)
7:00am - Check in to Pop, go over to MIL's room to store some bags since our room will probably not be ready
8:15 - I would like to be at DHS by this point, I don't want to miss the Stormtroopers
9:00am - 5:00pm
see Star Wars characters
ride Star Tours
see Star Wars Motorcade parade
lunch at CS
ride TSM
ride TOT and RRC
see a show if there is time
5:00pm - leave DHS, back to Pop to get into room, shower and change for dinner
7:20 - dinner at Ohanas

After dinner we'll head back to the room, DS15 and DN may go swimming but I'll get the younger ones in bed because the next day we have an early morning!

Our latest theme night was A Bug's Life. Best and easiest night food wise because for our "picnic" we ordered take out from a bbq place:) Unfortunately no food pics because my DH starting fixing the kids plates before I got a chance to get pictures :( Dessert was spider cookies and cups of dirt with gummy worms. As a craft the kids made caterpillars and colored A Bug's Life pictures. The kids loved the movie, it's been a while since they have seen it so they had kind of forgotten it. Now they are actually looking forward to It's Tough to be a Bug, in the past Emily and Ben have been a little scared of it but now they are both saying they can't wait to see the show again!

I'm absolutely loving your PTR!

You'll be checking in as we're checking out at POP. It's our first stay there, and we're excited! I was really shocked DH didn't want to stay longer for SWW (since we can't come in earlier due to his BF's wedding). So take extra pics for me at SWW! (I'll live vicariously through you, okay?)

Can't wait to read more! popcorn::

Thanks so much for reading! I'll definately be taking lot of pics to share with you for SWW, I think I took close to 1500 pics last trip, I'm one of those people that will take a dozen shots of the same thing until I get the perfect shot! Maybe you can try to conince your DH to extend the trip a bit ;)

Your going to love POP, we really enjoyed it!
