Can I preselect AirTran seats after purchasing tix?

Can anyone help me with the above question? There may be another family going with us in December and I know that our older children will want to sit togehter. Can I wait and preselect seats after I purchase them? I know there is a chance that there will not be any available at that time, but I'm just wondering...

Yes. That is what I did. I preselected my arrival seats, but forgot my departure ones. So I just went back on a couple days later and did that. No problem at all. $6.00 per seat.

Yes, you can. I purchased the fares in January, a week later the rate went down considerably, so I called and got a credit. I then used the credit to pay for selection of seats. I still have a bit of credit left so DD will be using that to purchase her seat selection for her already purchased August flight.

That is $6.00 for a standard seat. They are also $20.00 for exit row; and two tiers of priority boarding; first at $15.00 and second at $13.00.
