we are wanting to go....but with sports its kind of hard to plan ahead...how much of a deposit is required and is it refundable or transferable? if so, I may just go ahead and do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a deposit of $200 and you have until 45days till the trip to pay it off. You can get a refund up to 45 days before the trip date after that you loose $100. If you cancel within 5 days of your trip you loose your full $200 deposit.

Here is the fine print:

* Deposit - A deposit of $200 per reservation will be due and must be received by Walt Disney Travel Co., Inc. (“Disney”) within 14 days of booking the reservation or the reservation will automatically be cancelled. For reservations that include air travel, the total price of airline tickets may also be due in addition to the $200 deposit. For reservations that include vacation insurance, the total price of vacation insurance is also due at the time the deposit is due.

* Final Payment - For reservations made 46 days or more prior to guest arrival, final payment is due to Walt Disney Travel Co., Inc. at least 45 days prior to guest arrival. For reservations made 45 days or less prior to guest arrival, full payment is due to Walt Disney Travel Co., Inc. at time the reservation is booked. Payments made by check or money order should be sent to Walt Disney Travel Co., Inc., P.O. Box 409668, Atlanta, GA 30384-9668. For overnight delivery via private courier service only, payments made by check or money order should be sent to: Walt Disney Travel Co., Inc., Bank of America Lockbox Services, Lockbox 409668, 6000 Feldwood Road, College Park, GA 30349. Receipt of travel documents by guest is proof of final payment and, therefore, no other confirmation of receipt of final payment will be sent.

Cancellation and Change Fees Prior to Guest Arrival

* No refunds will be given to no shows.

* Cancellation of Reservation - If the reservation is cancelled, amounts paid, minus cancellation fees and other amounts owed, will be refunded. For a cancellation made 44 to 6 days prior to guest arrival, there is a cancellation fee of $100 per package, plus any cancellation fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers. For a cancellation made 5 days or less prior to guest arrival, there is a cancellation fee of $200 per package, plus any cancellation fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers; provided, however, that for a cancellation of a Grand Gathering experience add-on option made 5 days or less prior to the experience date, no refund will be given.

* Guest will be responsible for any cancellation fees assessed by an airline. In the case of a non-refundable airline ticket, the cancellation fee is equal to the entire ticket price. Cancellation of a refundable airline ticket must be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled airline departure time.

* Vacation insurance is nonrefundable if not canceled within 14 days after booking reservation. For reservations made 14 days or less prior to guest arrival, vacation insurance is nonrefundable if not canceled at least one day prior to guest arrival.

* Changes to Reservation - For a change made 44 days or less prior to guest arrival that results in a change in the package price, a change fee of $50 per package, plus any change fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers, will be charged. Disney reserves the right to restrict changes to any reservation. Such change fees must be paid in addition to any increase in the package price resulting from the change. If air travel has been ticketed, guest will be responsible for any increase in airfare as well as the change fee assessed by the airline.

Another thing to consider is possible discounts. If you book with a discount, and your dates change, you may or may not be able to find similar availability on the different dates.

If you purchase trip insurance, then when you change your dates you will lose the cost of the insurance (even outside the 45 day window). I recommend booking the trip with dates you really think will be doable, and then forgo the trip insurance. Once you get down to the final payment, you can add trip insurance if it is something you want. That way, if before you final payment is made, you need to move your trip dates, you are not out any money.

The change/cancellation/etc is the same as what others mentioned above. You may not be able to use the same discount, but there might be something else (even better) that is available for the new dates.

I know how you feel with sports/activities. DH hates to have kids miss games (he feels that if you make the commitment to play, you need to be there!), so we always try our best to work around the schedules.
