Can I make reservations for same time at 2 resorts?

Due to time constraints I'm using Dreams to help me with my ressies this time. We are thinking of staying at the CR because it is near MK and this will be our first trip with our new grandson (he'll be 1!). The price for two rooms is over $7000 for our 10 day trip! Can I make a second ressie at a more affordable on-site resort and cancel the one at the CR if no discounts come out for our June stay? Thanks for all your help. I have been around along time lurking and occasionally posting but have always gained alot of good information from all the faithful posters. :cheer2:

I don't think you can have 2 at the same time. We asked CRO and they said no. Maybe there is a way around it, but I don't know about it. Maybe another DISer can answer.

If they won't let you do it, maybe you could make one ressie in your name, and one in your DH's name? Just a thought....

Well, I have 3 right now. One is a room only and when I called on Jan 2nd and got prices, they actually mades the reservations. They told me not to worry about it and the ones without a deposit will drop out of the system. He would not cancel it. So, I don't think anyone will know, but making it in DH's name is a good idea.

I had a ressie in December for Pop. I called one day and found that BWI was available. I asked if I could make a ressie for the BWI without cancelling Pop, so that I could go home that evening and talk it over with hubby before I cancelled my ressie with Pop. I was told NO. I could only hold one reservation during the same timeframe. I thought of doing the different name, but every time I make a ressie, the CM always has both of our names when I tell them my last name and address. (they know way too much).

Definitely you can make a reservation under your name and have your husband make one under his name. We did this so that our friends could have one of the rooms. No problem!

They even know my sister's name :earseek: ! I tried to do it, once that way and they said "she is listed under your ressie at the same time, and you can only have one." BUT on another occasion a different cm gave me another ressie at the same time with no questions asked, I never mentioned having the 1st ressie, and she didn't mention it even thou she had all my info?

BUT, I also just (thought I) changed a ressie (because of ap rates) needed to divide up for a "wonder cruise" break and and split it in 2, they were supposed to cancel the original # and give me 2 new ones, BUT I got 2 new ones and still had the old one. They even took $$ off the old one for a deposit on one of the new ones and left enough to keep the old one. I was lucky I caught it, that I didn't get the refund on my charge card. :smooth:

I thought you could. I swear I read somewhere that AP holders can reserve up to 3 rooms at a time at a discount. -Steph

Different. The OP is talking about holding 2 different reservations at 2 different resorts at the same time then choose only one after deciding which one to keep. An AP holder can hold 1 reservation for 3 rooms (same resort).

Thanks for the input. Sounds like I'm going to consider another resort. The family really wants to try the CR but I'm not much of a gambler and if a code doesn't come through it would be a lot more than I want to spend on just rooms. We have stayed at the YC a couple times, I think I'll do a little research on the S/D and see what the family thinks.
Thanks again. :flower:

The first time I ever went...in 1999, I had room reservations @ ASSp. I wanted to surprise my now DH with one night at Coronado Springs...I made the second ressie for CS and had my original ressie at ASSp. I actually kept both rooms for the night, and my SIL stayed at the ASSp.

Don't take this the wrong way, BUT... why on earth would you make a reservation you had no intention of keeping? All you would be doing is adding to the occupancy level at CR for your timeframe making it less likely a discount would become available. If discounts do become available, they are going to have to cancel your other ressies and make new ones anyway. This practice has always bewildered me. I can understand the people who make a reservation that are willing to pay rack rate and are hoping for cheaper rates, but not those that have no intention of paying the rack rate. It just makes no sense at all. Make the ressie at the more affordable hotel and if a discount comes out for CR, THEN change them over.

At this point, I am just gathering input. According to Dreams I have several days to make up my mind before I accept a reservation. I've never had 2 ressies at the same time but thought I recalled other posts mentioning it. I had never considered the possiblilty that my reservation might cause Disney to not offer discounts at a certain hotel. It is definitely food for thought.
