This is our first cruise. We'll have some sort of car/bus service to MCO from Port. Will we be able to get there in time for a 2:50 flight(considering we have to be there early for security, etc.)? Will we be rushed or can we disembark at a fairly leisurely pace? Thanks!

You will have plenty of time. We have made 12:30 and 11:30 flights. When we disembarked last week, they were actually calling for final disembarkation at 9:15. It is an approximate 40 minute drive to the airport from the port. We were at the airport during President's week (very crowded) security went very smoothly. Baggage check-in the same.

This should be made with LOTS of time to spare. IT is more fun than rushing for an early one. You can have a nice leisurely lunch, and walk around the nice airport... :)

We disembarked leisurely and left the ship at 8:30, final all-ashore is usually at 9AM. We were at MCO by 9:45AM and actually had to hang around and wait for our 1:30PM flight. You'll have PLENTY of time to make that flight!!! Also, sometimes MCO doesn't allow you to check your bags until 4 hours prior to your flight and doesn't let you through security until 1 1/2 hours prior to your flight. There is a nice mall area between the two terminals with a food court to try to pass some time.

Wow - at the airport at 9:45. Maybe we should take an earlier flight. I think there is an 11:45 available. I just didn't want to be so rushed that it was stressful. Would any of you recommend the companies you used for the drive? There will be 2 adults and 2 kids in our party. Thanks!!

We used DCL transfers, and it worked out just great!!! I was originally booked on an 11:45 flight, but they ended up changing times by 5 MINUTES and we got bumped from the flight to the later time. If I had the 11:45 flight, I would have gotten off the ship around 8AM to ensure I had plenty of time at the airport....

We used Greyhound. I would recommend them with flying colors!!! We cruised in the middle of hurricanes, and they were amazing with us, giving us the drivers cell phone number. This was amazing, since we never were sure where we may have been headed. We were a party of 11, but they can transport smaller.

I personally would go for the earlier flight, we never were particularly stressed with our 11:30 flights. THere have been different experiences though not by us.

i say don't fly home go back and take in some of the parks for a few days!!

FlTours picked us up at the terminal at 8:30am and we had plenty of time to make our 11 am flight (SWA) back home. I would recommend FL Tours - they were great for us. Also, we were up for the immigration check at 6am anyway so we had plenty of time. This is the only pain in the butt we found on the whole cruise - definately a perk of being American - sleeping in a little longer on that last morning!

I have booked our trip for July and our TA advised that we would not be able to make the 12:15 Air Canada flight and that we would have to stay over.... now I'm really confused

That is strange. Disney recommends flight starting at noon. Are you sailing on the Magic or Wonder. I am asking because the Magic will be in Calilfornia for the summer, so perhaps you would not make a flight there for that time.

I would call back my travel agent to request further info.

no we are doing the 4 day land and 3 day sea and our TA said there is no way we would make the 12:15 flight - I'm wondering if she meant we wouldn't make the 2 hr before flight time boarding requirement. I don't mind staying the extra night, econolodge with a pool, but we won't get home until midnight Monday and have to work Tuesday

Wow...I would think that you would have more than enough time to make it.. As I think I said earlier, I had on two seperate occasion 11:30 flights, and made each with way too much time, but would never book earliler than that......

I also used my own transfers to get to the airport, and forgo eating breakfast until we were safely checked in!!

Good Luck, but you are going to be really zonked arriving home so late!!

Disney considers anything before 12:30pm "early". I'd leave your flight where it is.

We BARELY made our 12:35 pm flight. Literally walked from security to the gate onto the plane.

Biggest problem was there was a 90 minute wait at Orlando airport to clear security. We got to the airport at 10:15 am.

Also there was a 45 minute wait to get off the ship....not sure why, there was a steady flow off, just a slow flow. Once in the cruise terminal it took less than 15 minute to find our luggage, clear customs/immigration, check our bags with AA at the port, board the bus, and be on our way.

Disney does want folks off by 9 am, but talking to folks at the airport, it took Disney until 10:15 to get everyone off. We had late breakfast, at 8 am, and when we came downstairs at 7:45 people were already getting off the ship, like I said, it was just a slow steady flow.

I used Happy Limo and received great service. They were waiting for us when we got off the ship and got us right to the airport. Go to DisneyCruiser.com for a link to Happy Limo that will get you $10 off. It's a nicer way to end the cruise than piled on the bus with everyone else.
