Can I make room only reservations at 2 resorts under the same name?

My problem: We are going to Disney end of April 09. We LOVED our last stay at Poly and want to stay there again next spring. BUT with the cost of everything rising and our budget getting tighter, we may need to economize and stay at CSR.

Can I make ressies at both Poly and CSR for the same time period under the same name? We should know our budget constraints by January and at that point would cancel one of the 2 ressies. I am hoping for at least a AAA disc on the rooms and crossing my fingers for either an AP or gen public code for next spring. Knowing I can't count on either, I can't use that as a determining factor for our stay--it would just be a bonus savings. Our resort choice will depend on my income between now and January.(I am a real estate agent so my income is a crap shoot at best:lmao: )

Thanks:goodvibes

Absolutey NOT. Youd be taking space from a family that needs that room. Disney will cancel both your reservations

Technically yes you can do it, but it's not very ethical IMO for the reason mbanks21 stated. Since nobody else tells me what to do with my money and i'm looking for the cheapest bang for my buck, i'd personally do it.

youre forgetting the fact that disney will see both reservations and they WILL do something about it

First of all you can do this and Disney does not care. Don't believe me? Call and ask. I have had multiple reservations before with no problem. I have had several CMs suggest booking two rooms when I tell them I'm not sure where I want to stay.

Are you taking a room someone else wants? At the end of April, I doubt any resort sells out; especially not before you decide in January.

Here's the thing about booking in advance when you are not sure where you are going to stay...Disney puts out codes and specials based on room occupancy. The more people that book rooms that they are not going to use, the less likely you will see a good discount during your vacation time. Will your two rooms make a difference? Probably not :) I also believe that Disney puts rooms reserved at a discount back in the rack rate pool once they are cancelled - meaning that if you use the AAA discount on both rooms, you could possibly be denying another guest the AAA rate on their room.

Now that you have the facts, you can make your own decision.

Thank you for the information.:wizard: That's exactly what I needed to know.

This past spring I had two ressies where the dates overlapped at two different resorts. It wasn't anything I'd done intentionally- the first ressie had been booked way in advance and I hadn't received a confirmation by mail..somehow it never made it's way to my email either and so when we got closer to our travel date I made another ressie with an arrival date a few days before the other at a different resort ( the one I'd originally booked was no longer available). I'd forgotten about the first ressie made 7 months prior or I'd have called to modify the arrival date instead. Both were room only ressies so I'd only paid one night's deposit on each. I received a call from Disney regarding the two, asking me if I realized I had two bookings that overlapped. The CM was really nice about it and cx one for me after I explained what must've happened since I couldn't be in two places at once. I did feel really badly about my mistake. Now if I don't receive an email confirmation I call right away to request one via snail mail so it never happens again!---Kathy

so basically disney realized you had 2 resses and called to tell you they need to cancel one. Thats what Im talking about

Could someone have 10 reservations then for 10 differant rooms and disney wouldnt care? Its just like having 2 adrs for the same time, youre taking space from another family. And I guarantee the CM that told you to book 2 rooms under one name is no longer working there because all calls are monitored and if they say crap like that I can imagine all the other stuff theyve been telling guests

You can have 2 different reservations in your name at two different resorts...they will NOT automatically cancel one of them. Disney resorts are in the business to rent hotel rooms...if you want more than one room, they will gladly let you pay for them. They will take the reservations & your money for the deposit. As another poster mentioned, they may call and ask you who is really going to be in which rooms, and you should tell them as early as possible, but people do book more than one room all the time. (On purpose, with no intention of cancelling. There's another very good reason for booking more than one room that doesn't mean you're keeping others from getting available rooms.)

You may be booking multiple rooms for an extended family trip...or maybe you're the one that has the $$ for the deposits, so the reservations originally go in your name. And on family reunion type bookings, different family members may need different resorts for varying budgets...the older generation may prefer to pay for Deluxe, while the younger generation may need a less expensive alternative.

And sometimes people book 2 rooms at the same resort for convenience & privacy issues. For example, we did this in January of this year...booked two rooms at POFQ, on purpose because we wanted two rooms! One for DH & I, one for 19 yr. old DD & a friend. On the original reservation, both rooms were in my DH's name, phone number & same credit card for both deposits. No problem (booked on the phone with Disney travel specialist at AAA.) Got two email confirms direct from Disney showing the two different confirm #'s. The only comment we got was to make sure & call either AAA or Disney before the 45 day deadline & get DD and friend's name on the second room so as not to be charged a change-fee.

A few years ago, I know my DS reserved 3 rooms at different WDW resorts for the exact same time period. She was planning on using two of the rooms, but the 3rd one she wasn't sure about. She canceled the 3rd room the day of the deadline to get her deposit back.

My sister had reservations for a suite at the All Star Music Resort for next week. About 2 weeks ago she called back because their dates might be changing. The new dates would overlap with the original. When she explained this to the CM she was told that she would had to cancel the first reservation or make 2 reservations that did not overlap.

The overlapping ressie issue I was referring to happened this past May. I would imagine if booking on the phone and explaining that yes, we want two rooms for our family of four, etc. or yes, we want multiple rooms for an extended family/friend trip, but for now, they'll be under my name...that may be a different circumstance since the CM booking it is aware of the situation and realizes it's not double-booking. Lately though when I wanted to book under a code for a niece in another state just to snag it for her, I was told I couldn't book it- I HAD to have names, dob's, and her correct mailing address for her family. So, perhaps policy has changed fairly recently. Also, who knows when reports are run that monitor such a situation- they may not be until closer in to someone's arrival date. I was glad to be called, otherwise I'd have lost $ in the one night deposit I'd paid for a ressie I no longer needed.---Kathy
