I've just realized that if I don't get motivated and start some dieting and exercising I won't be fit and thinner for my 20th class reunion. I've been putting it off thinking I've still got lots of time but then the other day I realized I want to lose 25 pounds for this class reunion. Is 25 pds possible in 4 months? I think it is but I also know myself and 6 pds every single month is very hard for me.

I don't really want to do any fad diets or cleansing type things. I just want to eat cleanly (no white breads, white pasta or rice or processed foods).

So I started today and here's what I had:

Breakfast: Banana and oatmeal
Snack: Ooops- chex mix bar (ya, I know it's processed but only 120 calories)
Lunch: Turkey and cheese sandwich no bread, strawberries
Snack: String cheese and some almonds
Dinner: 1/2 of large chicken breast, asparagus
Snack: Sugar free pudding
Water with each snack and meal.

I exercised and felt pretty good all day. It's a start and I"m happy I'm doing something to get going.

Yup, it can be done, but you will need to be diligent. Last January (2008) I started dieting for our mid-April trip to WDW. I followed WW to the letter and exercised at least 30 minutes at least 4 days per week. I managed to lose almost 35 pounds before we left. That was in about 14 weeks. You have about the same amount of time. Of course, I was at the beginning of yet another weight loss journey, so of course, I had a few big losses at first (maybe 3-4 pounds for the first week).

Be careful of not eating ENOUGH. I was so anxious to lose that I ate well below my points many, many days. What happened was that my weight loss really slowed down (losing 1 lb or less per week for a few weeks).

How are you doing this? Calorie counting? Just wondering. Good luck! .............................P

You are looking at 1.5 pounds per week which is (1) doable and (2) healthy rate of loss. So YES, you can totally do it. But it will take commitment. Good luck!

My 25th is at the beginning of July. I would love to at least lose 20 pounds.

I am reading through Dr. Phil's chapter on weight loss resistance though as I have been eating pretty well AND excercising 30 min. per day and no weight is coming off. I have ALWAYS had problems losing weight, even pre-babies.....but since babies it has been next to impossible to lose weight, even doing all the "right things."

Are you journaling your food?? I think that sometimes we "think" that we are eating well and within our points/calories, but we forget snacks, bites, nibbles, over the course of the day. If you are NOT journaling your food, I suggest you try it for at least a week or two and see if it helps. Are you following any particular program?? Counting calories? I know that several people here on the WISH boards use sparkpeople.com (??) to help them track calories, etc. I use Weight Watchers and following their Flex Points program. They also have another program where you don't have to journal your food as diligently..... used to be called Core, but I think they changed it a bit recently and it has a new name (??). Anyhow, I think that faithfully journaling your food/points/calories for at least a week might help. Just a suggestion....................P

Thanks for the encouragement! I think I can do this! I will start journaling today and I think I've decided to count calories instead of ww points. I've done ww so many times and I always start out good and then end up eating all those 100 cal snacks that are nothing but artificial sugars and carbs. I want to focus on fruits and veggies, lo fat protein snacks. I always seem to make good meal choices- it's the snacks that get me.

Ok, so off I go with week one! Wish me luck!

When I saw this thread bumped up, I was hoping it was the OP coming on to let us know how she was doing. OP, are you around? How are you doing with the weight loss?....................P
