Can I link a room on points with a CRO (not MS) ressie?

I am reserving a room for 5 nights (Sun-Thurs nights) for a guest (renter). The renter wants to stay the following two (weekend) nights on cash, and does not want to change rooms (so we want to link the reservations). I understand I'm not allowed to book these nights via MS with the DVC member discount since this reservation is not in my name. However, can I either:

1. Have the renter book these nights via CRO and then link them to the points reservation by calling MS? (this would be better since then the renter pays himself for these nights, and it doesn't involve me, and also he can get an AAA discount on the room)

or

2. Book these nights through MS in the renter's name at rack rate without the DVC member discount, and link them to the points reservation? (and then figure out payment arrangements with the renter)

If 1. is not possible because CRO and points reservations cannot be linked, has anyone had a stay such as this and successfully requested at checkin to stay in the same room the whole time?

Thanks in advance. The wisdom on this board is amazing!

You can't officially "link" them but you can have each reservation noted and the chances are good they will not have to move, unless it is a room that is restricted to points only (BWV boardwalk view, BCV 2 bedroom w/2 queens).

I did this last May. I booked Sunday to Thursday nights on points and then Friday night on an AP rate (OKW 1 bedroom). I had the reservation #'s noted on both reservations. I mentioned it at check-in and the cm confirmed we would not have to move. On Friday morning I had to go back to the front desk and get new key cards and parking pass. We got full housekeeping on Friday. Worked fine.

Thanks Debbie for the quick reply.

Actually the points reservation is a BWV Boardwalk view. If those rooms points-only, then that means that the cash nights have no chance of being Boardwalk view rooms, right? And it also means there is no way I could book that same room with cash, discount or not, right?

Thanks.

From what I understand, unless there are no members on the waitlist for a boardwalk view for that night, they do not rent them for cash, even member cash. I would call member services and discuss the situation to be sure.

There is no way you can guarantee they won't have to move and it's a recipe for disaster if they do. Let them know the info and book their reservations accordingly. I wouldn't take the responsibility of a cash room if it were I. IF you do decide to book cash through MS, they likely would not have to move if it's the same unit type and view. BW view is not likely to work out.
