my husband is worried i won't be able to lift a portable scooter and put it together every time we get out of the van. can anyone tell me how easy/hard these are to use?

Depending on what brand/model you rent, I believe the heaviest piece might weigh 35 to 50 pounds.

Enjoy your vacation!

The heaviest parts are the batteries. You can check on line to see how heavy the scooter is and how it breaks down. I think lifting it out of the back of a van might be easier than out of a trunk.

I was able to take apart and lift the scooter my sister rented and lift it out of the trunk of a Sonata. The once she rented was 4 wheels and broke down to 5 pieces: Basket, Seat, 2 Batteries, Base (including tiller). The base and tiller was the most difficult for me to lift in and out as it weighted about 40 pounds and was just awkward for me to pick up. As the week went on, it was easier to figure out how to place everything ad where to left.

The biggest key will be if you can handle lifting the weight.

Disclaimer: I have zero experience with these people.

ScootAnywhere rents lightweight scooters, and they ship it to your house, so you can use it on the entire trip.

The last time we rented, we kept it put together and just lifted it in and out of the SUV.
