Hello, I've read some of the stickies on this but I'm still not sure about something. We would like to take the free shuttle bus from the airport to our resort, however, I don't want to have to wait for our luggage to be delivered. We would prefer to keep our luggage with us and take it to our rooms ourselves. Can we do the following: Pick up luggage from baggage claim, take it to the bus with us, load it with the rest of the luggage, ride on the bus to the resort, get off the bus and take our luggage immediately with us? Is this possible? Thanks in advance.

Absolutely. Be sure you make your reservation to ride DME. Then, when you get your info packet, you will see yellow luggage tags. Don't put them on your bags.....they are for those that wish DME to take care of their luggage. So....leave them off your checked bags. When you get to MCO, just go to baggage claim, get your bags and proceed to DME checkin. Your bags will be stowed beneath the bus you are riding on and handed to you when you reach your resort. Just be aware that the driver will expect to be tipped for helping with your bags....a dollar or so per bag.

We do that on all our trips! Even the return to the airport we take our bags.

Last August when we got there just after noon, our room was ready. I had our bathing suits in our carry on but we still got to go to our room and I was able to unpack and we were at the pool with in the hour.

If you use the DME luggage transfers as designed, you don't have to wait in your room for your bags to be delivered. Put anything you need right away in your carry-ons. Then, while you're out having fun, your bags will be left in your room. (Disney covers the gratuity, so you don't have to be there.

If you DON'T use the DME luggage transfers as designed, you have to wait for your bags at baggage claim. You will usually be on a later DME coach to your resort, so your arrival at your resort will be delayed 30 minutes (or possibly 60 minutes). And you'll have to deal with your bags at the airport and at the resort. Tipping the DME driver is customary when the driver returns your bags to you at the resort. Tipping anyone else at the airport and/or at the resort who assists with your bags is also customary.

Thanks Everyone. That information is exactly what I needed. I knew I came to the right place. :cool1:
