OK...I know this is seriously OT, but I just can't take it anymore, and I need to vent.
I applied for the Disney College Program for this spring. Hopefully, if I'm lucky enough to get into the Program, I'll be at the World from late January to early August. I applied last year for the Spring Advantage (January to August) and was accepted into an Attractions role, which was my first choice. However, I had to turn down the offer. I had just changed majors and decided that it would be more beneficial for me to get started into my new field of public relations and business (which I love).
OK....so I reapplied for the Program for this spring. I chose to do the E-Presentation online as opposed to waiting for the recruiters to come to my campus next month. There was no way I could wait until late November to apply for an internship in January. Having seen the entire presentation and going through the application process before, I knew what to expect.
I had my phone interview on the 16th of September, and sent off all of my paperwork the next day. I was told during my interview that I would hear back from the Casting Office within 2 to 4 weeks of receiving my application. As I'm waiting, I receive a few e-mails from my online recruiter. They state that I need to schedule a phone interview if I had not done so already. And if I have had my interview, I will hear from them in 2 to 4 weeks. I got 2 of these. After my second e-mail, I called the Casting Office to make sure that everything was OK with my application. The rep told me yes, and that my application was in review.
However, the next day, I get a third e-mail. This one stated that "Action Required." I had to schedule a phone interview. So I try calling the Casting Office again to figure out what is going on. On all of the e-mails I had gotten from my recruiter, she stated that the Casting Office was open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM EST. I called at 5:30 PM EST. Lo and behold, the Casting Office in fact closes at 5 PM. So I e-mail my recruiter. Being a Friday, I don't expect to hear back from her until Monday.
On Monday, I do hear from my recruiter. This is what she had to say:
"I have tracked down your interview and you should receive a decision from us in the next 2 4 weeks via US mail. I apologize for the delay."
So they lost my phone interview. Great. I now have another 2 to 4 weeks to wait. Which means I'm waiting around 6 weeks to hear back from them. Besides the part where they lost my interview, said everything in my application was OK even though it wasn't, and having to wait, here's what really worries me.
I was planning on doing the Program with a great friend of mine from high school. We planned on being roommates, figuring that we've know each other since 2001. He had his phone interview the day before I did, and sent out all of his paperwork the same day I did. However, he got his acceptance letter last week. Now that I'm so much farther behind in the application process, we can't guarantee that we will be able to show up together or room together. We can change roommates once we get to the World, but that involves paperwork and a room-change fee.
Anywho...I'm just so irritated with this whole process. I'm sick of waiting and I'm annoyed with the lack of information I can get from the Casting Office.
OK...that's pretty much it. Thanks for taking the time to listen to me kevetch and moan over this whole ordeal.
Thanks, and have a magical day!
