I have 5 shares in DLP. I was a member of the shareholders club, but my membership lapsed last year. If I buy a further 95 shares will I currently be able to join the shareholders club. I know there is a suspension on new members (shareholders) but don't know if I would be able to rejoin as I already have some shares. Thanks for any help!

Not sure if you can now, only way would be to email and ask if they will let you renew if you buy the extra shares

Here is the official statement:

In a constant concern to better meet members expectations, to bring a quality service, relevant information on the Company and to preserve equity for the existing members, Euro Disney S.C.A.'s Shareholders Club announces the suspension of new memberships (new shareholders) as of Thursday, January 15th, 2015, for at least the implementation period of the recapitalization.

The future of the Shareholders Club is not affected by this operation. All current members of the Club will remain members afterwards. The advantages and services will be identical.

After this period of suspension, an analysis on the threshold of the minimum quantity of shares to be held by the new members will be led before the coming into force of new membership criteria and/or new general conditions (terms) of the Shareholders Club.

Only new memberships will not be possible. If you buy the extra shares you will get another membership card. I hope that is right.

I didn't realize how much we enjoy salon Mickey until I let my membership expire. Do get the extra shares and get back into the salon. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Thanks everyone. I think it's going to be down to timing. Particularly getting the paperwork from the Halifax and sent to DLP. From what I remember this was done by the post rather than email last time. Has anyone done this recently who can tell me what I need to get from Halifax and send to DLP? Thanks.

Well, I've just bought 80 shares (had 20 already). I've had a change of heart about rejoining the SHC so have decided to go ahead. Hoping I can get everything through in time. I'm fairly sure I printed out my share cert online from Halifax last time, then scanned it in and emailed it to the SHC. Off to see if I can find the info.

If you find anything else out in the meantime, please post. It sounds like we need to act quickly.

Hi :wave:spoke to a lovely lady at DLP (0080064745630) who said it was fine to go ahead. She updated my personal space as my membership had lapsed and I've updated the form and uploaded a photo. She said there isn't a deadline to renew, but I still think I need to act quickly. I've purchased 95 shares (Halifax have £3.95 reduced dealing today! Fingers crossed it will work out!
Are you planning a trip to get over WDW Disney blues? I'm going in Feb half term with my DSis and family - very cheap expedia deal to Davy Crockett and driving again! Need to save for WDW next summer. :thumbsup2

Thank you! I have now done all mine and have emailed them the contract note (or something similar). My personal space has lapsed too although I can get on to it, I can't do anything in it other than update that I have 100 shares. So, I've just emailed them to ask for a renewal form to be emailed and I'll fill it out. If I don't hear from them by tomorrow, I'll give the office a call.

Phew! Watch, they'll change the goalposts again now we've bought the extra.

No, no trips on the horizon. I was potentially looking at a longer stay near Paris next summer and a visit to DLP, but DH doesn't think he will get any time off. So, I may go away with my parents and the children - if so, it will be the Med somewhere. I don't want to do another long haul flight for a wee while and quite like the sound of a relaxing holiday after US/WDW!!

Problem for us is DLP is never a cheap break as we have to fly - no way we could drive all that way as the children hate being in the car for too long as they both suffer with travel sickness. Aren't you in the NE too - does that mean you are driving all that way? Or are you hiring a car over there?

My Brother in Law drives (he doesn't mind!) It's a bit of a squash with 5 in the car, but it get's us there!:car: It took about 12 hours last year. Then we have the car for Davy Crockett! When i go on my own with my DD we have flown from Edinburgh as they still do easyjet.

We missed Salon Mickey without our shareholders membership last February and as we don't need Annual passes this year (tickets included) we wanted to still be able to get a discount in shops and restaurants. Hopefully between 5 of us it will pay for itself! If we can then use it for future trips that will be great. The lady I spoke to assured me it would be fine in February!

Hope you get sorted! :thumbsup2

Wow. that's a long drive. There's no way my children would manage that! Sometimes, if you play it right, you can get AF from NCL at a fair price. But, I really don't like AF as an airline.

To be honest, I've had two trips as a SH one where we got VIP FP for a day which was brilliant. I think even with the new shares, my SHC membership has pretty much paid for itself - I've used it a fair amount in UK Disney Stores too. I debated renewing for our trip last Halloween but decided against it. I think going to WDW has cemented my love for Disney and DLP!

We will return, just not sure when as we are totally stuck with school holiday visits and most of those are already spoken for next year with one thing and another!

I've had my SHC membership confirmation email already - super quick. Just waiting for my card to come now (in time for Xmas spends at DS no doubt!).

Yes you can, quite a few members have been taking advantage of the recapitalisation process to do this. But if you have five shares depending on when you bought them you might have been grandfathered into the club when the ownership requirerment went up to 200 a few years ago.

I am out of the loop with the shareholder's club and this recapitalisation.

Is there a 101 post as to what I need to do to check my shareholder status and whether I should pull the trigger on this share offer :)

Reid - as Jonjo says above, you need to check that you aren't grandfathered into the club anyway if you were an early shareholder. Failing that, you'd need to buy however many you need to take you to up to 100. I did this via Halifax as they hold my shares and they had a low commission day yesterday! It was very easy. I was able to download a copy of my contract showing how many shares I had and email that to the shareholders contact at DLP as proof. They came back to me with my amended membership form to sign (I simply printed out, signed it, scanned it back in and emailed by return).

Have a look on the shareholders corporate site to see if you are able to renew without needing to buy any shares. I can't remember the exact terms but someone else on here may be able to. ETA - if you were a member before 1/10/05 and hold 5 shares, you are automatically grandfathered in and don't need to do anything other than contact to renew.
