I am visiting WDW in November with my girlfriend and my family at the campground. I am planning on proposing during the trip and as an extra surprise taking my gf to another resort for a few nights. I'm a recent college grad and she is about to graduate, so we don't have a ton of money. I know that the Swan and Dolphin sometimes run specials and I am going to keep checking for those. But if that doesn't work out, I'm looking at the moderates. We live 30 miles from New Orleans so we wouldn't really be interested in the POFQ or POR. So what I'm wondering is do any of you find CSR or CBR more romantic than the other? What would your preference be? Thanks for any help.

If it comes down to having to choose between the CBR and the CSR go with CBR. We have stayed at CBR twice and CSR once and we did not care for CSR.

I have stayed at CBR twice and CSR twice. I like both but CBR has a slight edge in my opinion.

Considering that you are planning to propose while you are there, I would recommend the Coronado Resort. It has a more romantic flair about it than the CBR. Both of them are great choices but that is my pick.

27 day dance   :rotfl: :cool1: :cool1:

I have heard from a lot of people that POFQ and POR are the best moderates. If anyone is from the New Orleans area and has stayed at one of these hotels I would really appreciate any input.

I loved Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs. We dont care much for POR or POFQ. I would recommend staying at CSR.
My husband proposed to me while in WDW in 2002 (At California Grill during fireworks) and that trip we were staying at CSR. We had a few days after the proposal left on our trip. CSR was just magical for us!!! Due to the fact that DH told them when we checked in what he was planning to do and when, guest services sent balloons and a card to our room the day after the proposal and gave us vouchers for a champagne toast at Franciscos. It was a simple, nice gesture. CSR has beautiful grounds and is really nice!
Basically I suggest CBR or CSR for a romantic place that is different from where you normally are. I prefer CSR b/c I find it to be really romantic and magical.
Best of luck and congrats!!!

We LOVE POFQ!!!! We stayed there in Jan and are going back in two weeks :cool1: It's romantic, compact, quiet and really easy to get around...I highly recommend it :flower:

My DH and I met in NO. We lived there for several years in the early-mid 80's (both New England transplants working for the oil co.s) Our first trip to WDW together (I'd been before) was in 1991 and we stayed at POFQ. Yes, if you've lived in New Orleans, it's a bit hokie, but still just remember its Disney!
On the other hand, since this is such a special occasion here are a few ideas to get the most bang for your buck: try AAA room only discounts, unless its over Thanksgiving you should be in value season, so you might do well, also, I've never done this, but you might look to see if anyone is selling/trading/renting Vacation club points, (is there somewhere on DISboards, or maybe ebay) since you only need a couple of nights worth you might have more options.
Definitely follow the previous poster's advice, Tell the CM's what you're doing, from what others have written it seems the CMs love to help with celebrations!

Good luck.

Since POR and POFQ would be like being at home for you. I would go for CSR. It's a beautiful resort.

I would go with CSR since it is a little more adult oriented than CBR. The grounds are lovely and pool area is awesome. Check my website for pictures and video.

I would pick CSR over CBR for romance, but not by a whole lot. :)

At least you are thinking of taking her away somewhere nice!

Back in 1991, DH and I got engaged at Pleasure Island (it was April Fools Day!). At the time, we were young, foolish and POOR! We were staying at the Kissimmee Inn for 3 nights before heading to the Gulf Coast. It was SO SCARRY!
Here we were.. engaged, and giddy... and staying at a disgusting hotel. We can laugh about it 14 yrs later, but I remember then thinking how I wish our accomidations were more special.
( Needless to say, I have not stayed offsite since!)
Good Luck to you!

You may want to watch for specials at the WL. It's on the boat ride from MK - how romantic to talk her into getting off at the WL - just to look around - "Oh look - I happen to have a key for a room" then "What a great view - Will you marry me?" :earseek: That's a memory that will last a life-time. Plus you'll always know where to go for your anniversary!

That's about what I was going to say since they were at FW. WL is our favorite. Otherwise, CSR. Love the views around the lake at night.

DH and I lived in Lousiana for a few years too (my family is from there). We thought POR was nice and quaint but I totally know what you mean about wanting somewhere different. CSR does have a nice romantic feel to it! Especially at night near the fountains. A nice trail to walk around the lake too. :)

Congrats on your engagement-to-be!

CBR! Love the beaches with the hammocks and it's like being away on an island how much more romantic can ya get?

Propose at a dinner in the castle! I've heard they help and do amazing things to help plan!

I lived in NOLA for 2 years (my parents did the This Old House New Orleans House). It was many moons ago--but we had stayed at Dixie Landings--now Riverside...many many times and just recently stayed at French Quarter--unless you are pretty particular about the "accuracy of it" and being reminded too much of home--we thought it was GREAT. You can do the carriage ride and propose on that--reminiscent of home--but Disney-ized for a proper proposal  .

Haven't stayed at CBR...but CSR does have that romantic flair as someone has indicated earlier in the thread.

What if y'all just hopped on over to the poly--walk along the lagoon--watch the fireworks--propose there   --then your sweetie won't care where she's staying ;).

The great thing about Disney--you can pretty much go ANYWHERE!

Another vote for CSR. We just stayed there last month for our anniversary, and the surroundings were very romantic. There are hammocks on the beach surrounding the lake as well. Lots of places for a moon-light walk etc.

I've stayed at CBR some years ago, and IMO CSR was more romantic feeling.

Congrats and Best Wishes no matter what you decide! :sunny:

I just want to thank everyone for giving thier opinions. Unfortunantly it will be during Thanksgiving week, so I really doubt I will get any kind of deal. Thanks for the tip about telling the CM my plan when I check in. Right now I am leaning more towards CSR. Once again, thanks.
