This is my all time "dream dress".....Do you all think this is a little "much" for an xmas party??? The party is pretty extravagant (although I haven't went in a few years)....it is held at a country club...filet mignon, etc......dancing, drinks.....

Anyway, I have wanted this dress for a couple years and now that I am 40 pounds thinner...I really think it would be ok on.....But, I am getting to think it is a bit too fancy....and can you wear backless in the winter???....

I would definitely order it in black though...

Any opinions would be great.....thanks

PS....isn't it just beautiful???

Very beautiful dress! Are you going to get the fur coat to go with it?;) Must get nice jewelry and shoes and make up.

Can I be tall and blonde like she is???:p

DH saw the picture and said "dress? yea I like the dress" (uh huh)

It is a pretty dress, but if its for a company Christmas party and the company is like the one for which I work, you'll be talked about for years. It's a little sexy for a business affair, but if it's more with friends or for a charity function, I'd say go for it.

It is a gorgeous dress, but I think I agree with RUDisney. If it's a work function, it's just a little too sexy. If it's a social gathering with friends, go for it.

There is going to be about 200+ people at this function......Maybe I will just order it....maybe I won't like it at all....that way I can get the dress "out of my system"....

RU....that's what I am afraid of....I hate to stick out that they talk about me for years!! I don't think, though, those people are really like that.

I have to say that it is probably too much dress for the occasion. For a company party at the country club a short cocktail dress would be better. Or a velvet suit, something more conservative. Besides, it's COLD in Michigan and that dress, Oh MY!!! I would be too cold and would never warm up.

I think you should do it! That is one hot looking dress. Losing weight is not easy and if you feel like you want to wear that dress, then do it! Be proud of your body! I think it's classy-sexy, it's not hootchie mamma at all! ;) The dress is super long and your chest is well covered up. If it was a tight micro-mini with cleavage down to your belly button, then I would say no. Black would look stunning! I don't see what reason anyone would have to talk about you as long as you aren't flirting with every guy at the party and belting down the drinks.

Good luck and have a great time at the party!

It is beautiful and classy. But I have to agree that it might be a little too sexy for the occasion. I'd get the dress anyway, just because, then decide if it's appropriate for the party.
Have fun!

It is beautiful! Get it and wear it! It is very tasteful, sexy but not low cut in front or trashy looking. Buy a shawl to go with it, that way you can cover your back a little if you think you need to. Nice earings and a bracelet, and you'll be set. Don't worry about looking out of place, and if people talk it will be because you look great! How often do you get the opportunity to wear a beautiful dress like that? Go for it!

Yeah, what crazyme5kids said!!!!!!! :) I know I already posted once, but she said what I wanted to say!!

I agree...go for it. show off your weight lose.

They might be talking afterwards but they'll be saying how great you looked.

You know, I think I am just going to order it....see how I feel in it.....and decide....if I keep contemplating this....I will never get it in time......plus I have 20% off!!!

I have wanted it for 2 years now.....and never knew it came in black....and I said...."man if it only came in black".....so I think I will do it!!!

True, I could always have it for other occasions, if I feel it's not right for the night.

Thanks for the opinions!!!

It's very elegant. It doesn't sound too dressy....:D

I would get it and wear it proudly! You have worked hard to loose the weight, why not? You only live once, and if it would make you happy, who cares what others say? If, you feel you would be self consciuos, then I might suggest something else, because you might not have fun. But otherwise, I bet it would be stunning on you. Worn with confidence, you would be the belle of the ball! And if people talk, it is only because they would be envious and jealous. That's too bad, don't let other potential negative talk interfere with you happiness.

WOW! I love the dress and if you can wear it and look good, then GO FOR IT. One question though...will you and DH spend that much time at the party IF you are wearing THAT dress???? :smooth: :p

I would probably get it, but then take it to a seamstress and have them cut and hem it to just above the knee. I've done this before for a party where I felt a long gown was just too formal. A shorter version would be just right for a dinner/cocktail party.

All I can say is YOU GO!

Its a beautiful dress, and I just know you will look smashing in it! Congratulations on your weight loss!

Well.....I just placed the order!! So, I will let you all know when it arrives!!!

Good for you, Lisa!

So, do we get to see a pic of you and your hubby all decked out for the party? :) I bet you will be the best looking couple there! :)

I will definitely post a pic....if the dress is ok...well, heck....even if I pick a different one!!!!

Thanks again everyone!!
