I love coffee and keep reading how wonderful konas pressed pot is. I already have our meals planned, so I wasn't planning on eating there. Is there some kind of take out there?

I believe it is only open in the morning/afternoon
It becomes a sushi bar in the evening

You can't get the pressed pot from the coffee bar, they only serve the blend.

When all is said and done, Kona is basically a hotel coffee shop. So, I'd just go in, ordera press pot of coffee and perhaps a dessert if that's what you want to do.

I don't think that's a fair comparison but lol, ok. I do agree with stopping in and having coffee and dessert.

This sounds good. Maybe we can do this one evening and see the fireworks from the beach afterwards. Should I make reservations for just coffee and dessert? Is it bad if I make "dinner" reservations and only have dessert?

Yes, if its a busy time and you want to guarantee a table you would have to make an ADR. An ADR just gets you a table it doesn't control what you order.

Also I have read many people do this.

Kona should be available for walk-in lunches on most days. The later you go, the easier.
