Can I take a launch from Poly or Grand Floridian and get to Downtown Disney, all the way, by boat, realizing that I will have to make several transfers? After doing the bus last time, I think a boat might be faster.

I know I can take a launch from GF to Magic Kingdom. What then?

Thanks for the quick answers. It looks like the best I could do is boat to MK, then monorail to Epcot, then bus to Port Orleans or Saratoga Springs, then boat into Disney Springs. This would obviously take longer than a bus, since I end up waiting for a bus anyway.

If you are starting your trip from PVB or VGF, I would go to the MK bus loop and catch a bus to SSR. Once at SSR, get off at the Congress Park stop and walk to SSR.

On our recent trip, we found the bus information TV screens that have been installed at the resort bus stops to be reliable in giving the arrival times for the buses. We rode buses several times from Kidani to the Parks and to Disney Springs and each time the ETA for each bus was spot on with the actual arrival time.

Those lakes/waterways do not connect. Neither does the one at the Epcot resorts, you can't boat to Downtown Disney from there either. The only resorts with boats to Downtown Disney at OKW, SSR, POFQ, POR.

If you are at Poly, why not walk over to the TTC, catch the monorail to EPCOT, instead of going over to MK, then take the monorail back to TTC?
I agree with the PP wdrl and her suggested route.
If you are set on taking a boat for the relaxed travel, then take a bus from MK to one of DebbieB's listed resorts, and then take the boat to DS.

Why can't you just take the bus from your resort to DS?

If the time is important then a taxi or Uber will be your best option. I hate the bus service to/from DS and I don't otherwise hate busses at WDW. It's very very rare for us to go there unless we are staying at SSR or OKW because of the bus service.

There's no water transportation between the Contemporary/BLT and MK. There's a launch that goes between CR/BLT, Wilderness Lodge, and Fort Wilderness.

Good catch. I miss them not having that anymore. It was a sad discovery a few years ago when I went to the dock to get to the MK.

I usually taxi there myself...or, the last time, since we were there for two weeks, we did a split stay that included a few nights at SSR for the express purpose of getting our DTD fix..

If they would only clear out and dig Bonnet Creek out to Port Orleans FQ, clear out that canal that cuts over to the Sassagoula River, then you could boat down to DTD. They would have to build some bridges, but, it could be done.

The trip would still take a good hour to do. Take the bus, it's quicker.

One night, while saying at the Poly, we were in the Studios. We decided to catch the Monorail at Epcot and ride it back. So we got on the boat and road it to EPCOT. We'll EPCOT was closed. The boat captain took us all the way to the Canada landing and we raced to the front just in time to catch the last monorail to the TTC. Easy walk to our room from there.

DON"T play to many games with the transportation system, specially if you are on a schedule or it's close to closing.

It was really worthwhile to me to spend some time looking at Google maps and figuring out where lakes/canals were in relation to roads and walkways (remember, you can't walk along a Disney road - unless it has a walkway). There are things that are close but getting from here to there isn't really possible without a bus or car (OKW is really close to Epcot, but you aren't walking or taking a boat there). Its also interesting to look at and see some of the decisions Disney made - it looks like it would have been easy to connect Pop and CBR by water - they didn't.
