Can i get the QSDP for a 2 year old?

We are just about the book in the UK, the free dining offer is on at the moment and dd will be 2.5 years when we plan to go. She isnt the worlds biggest eater but oh doesnt share food and i often order things she wouldnt eat, so do you think its wise to upgrade her to a 3 year old to get the child qsdp for her? I am thinking that any excess snack credits she would have we could use for breakfast for us leaving us lots left over for ice creams and drinks during the day. What do you think, has anyone done this? was it too much food or are you glad you did it?
My dad is paying for the hotel for us so effectivly it will cost us nothing to upgrade her but would if we paid OOP for child meals for her as and when she needed them.

As I understand it, if you tell Disney that your daughter is three for the purpose of getting her free dining then you also need to buy her a park ticket. In this case free dining would be far from free.

If you upgrade her, you would have to buy her a park ticket. Easily negating any savings.

As noted, Disney will require that you register the child as 3 years old, because anyone registered as under 3 will not receive their own dining credits. If you register the child on the resort reservation as 3, Disney will consider them 3 years old for tickets as well, and if you're on a package reservation (which you must be if you're getting free dining) you'd have to purchase her a park ticket. You'd have to decide if buying a few kids meals is a better deal than having to purchase a park ticket for the baby. You don't have to use the ticket, and if you don't use it you can save it indefinitely, but you'd have to know you'd be coming back to WDW at some point when you'll need a child's ticket.

Buying kid's meals for the entire day would cost you about $10, and I'm assuming you wouldn't need to buy her a meal at every restaurant...she may share at times. A park ticket would cost significantly more than that.

so the park ticket cost would be £209 and for this i would get 28 snack credits and 28 kids meals plus a extra refillable mug - do you think i would spend this much OOP on food? Just trying to do the calculation to see if the qsdp if worth £209 for a 2.5 year old! thanks

meant to say we are going for 14 nights so i assuming the extra snack credits will cover breakfast for us all during that time meaning we wouldnt need to pay oop for any food or do you think this would be too much food?

If you know the child won't share at all, buy the ticket.

If you have any character meals, buffets, or all you can eat family style restaurants planned, remember there would be no extra cost at all for the child to eat off her own plate at any of these restaurants. Make sure you put that into your calculations.

My DD will be 22 months when we go to Disney. I purchased a ticket and a quick service dining plan for her. The way I look at it is...I don't wish to eat toddler food my entire vacation. I also don't want to have to worry about making two transactions at every meal. One for us and one for her. She can eat a kids meal to herself too. I have tried the sharing thing with her and it just doesn't work. She eats her half and half of mine too!

Here is my math on your situation:

140- 2 kids meals @$5/day for 14 days
84 - 2 snacks @$3 each for 14 days

That is $224. I don't know what that converts to in pounds though.

As far as the 2 snacks in the above comparison, note that in 2012 the quick service plan will only include one snack per night. The regular plan always includes one snack per night. Only the deluxe plan will include two snacks per night. Not sure when the OP is traveling or which plan they are getting.

thanks for this i have booked, just so thats its all sorted and paid for before we go, my dad is paying for the hotel and tickets and he said to just book it and then its less stress when there. But thanks for the calculation, i shared with dd in May when she was 20 months but she was teething at the time so didnt eat much, but i suspect she may eat more in Januray so at least this way and i can order what i fancy rather than what i know she will eat.

OMG about there only being one snack a day??? When i booked it said 2 quick service, 2 snacks and 1 refillable mug per person, surely it should have notified me of this change before booking or do you think it doesnt affect UK travellers???

In 2012 it's one snack on quick service. That's for everybody. If you're checking in during 2011 it is still two snacks.

thanks for this, i shall ring them up tomorrow and check as the website says 2 snacks and 2 quick service meals, i am thinking if its only one snack then it might make sense for me to consider the ddp instead as the snack credits allow us to eat brekkie but i guess with the ts we would be fine on the 2 meals a day and one snack... hmmm some thinking to do but i will see what they say tomorrow. thanks again x
