Do I have to be staying in a room in order to get the member discount on a room? We have friends who would like to stay another couple of days after we have shared a Grand Villa at OKW.

I would imagine it is technically not allowed. Unless of course you are just gifting the extra days to them.

Some people will likely raise their eyebrows at the thought, but I don't see how anybody is going to know (or care). Especially those friendly OKW folks.

I would make myself feel better by thinking of it as helping DVC marketing snag another couple owners. ;)

Several years ago we wanted to stretch our points by paying cash for weekend nights in 2 rooms. The only way MS would allow me to do this was to have DH and I each stay in one room, since we are the members. (We reserved this way and then did a little switching on our own :scared1: ) Rules could be different now or maybe this is one of those issues that depends on which CM you get when you call. Good luck!

We have 3 reservations for the same dates (we are staying in one of the rooms) and got the member discount for the cash nights for all 3 rooms. The other rooms will have family members. I'm not sure if it is because they are traveling with us or not.

The rule is that the member must be staying in the room, but some have reported more liberal interpretation.

Yep. We even told the CM at member services that the other two rooms were being occupied by family members and not DVc members and they said it didn't matter. I guess it depends on who you are talking to at the time you book.
