Can I get into my resort if I don't order a Magic Band?

Hi. I still have some nice Magic Bands, and the last one is defintely hooked up to my AP. So, do I really need to order a Magic Band for my next trip? I don't mind spending $5 for a plain one, but I might actually have to cancel at the last minute and don't want my band sitting at the resort (I'm too close to my date for them to mai to me). Also, I sometimes travel solo, but always have my husband's name on the reservation. It seem as though even if I ordered a band for myself, I have to order one for him. HOw can I NOT order him one?

You can bring an old band or they'll give you a room key at check-in.

You CAN, but it's not the best IMO. It's good in the case of "oh crap I forgot my room key at the pool," but I wouldn't rely on it exclusively.

Any old band still active (as in, never deactivated) will still work for these touch points. Just might not work for the distance reading.

Technically the band doesn't open the door.

The band tells the door that you're Jill, and the fact that you're Jill is what opens the door.

Any band, card, or app that is also linked to Jill will also open the door.

Any Magic Bands linked to your My Disney Experience account will work. I have several old bands I bring on trip, and sometimes buy new ones, and they all work the same.

Magic Bands, room reservations, park tickets, fast passes ADRs, park reservations, key cards, boarding groups, and anything else Disney comes up with, are NOT directly associated with each other - ever. Everything is associated with and linked to your MDE account - more specifically, a user profile on your MDE account. Magic Bands are merely keys that provide access to that profile from which, appropriate information can be seen.

Every band you've ever had is active unless you have specifically deactivated it. Bands are completely interchangeable.
