Is there really a free movie nightly? :rolleyes1 Do you have to attend or purchase a dinner to go? Where is it? Is there a campfire? Because I read that you should bring marshmallows...what about toasting sticks? Do we need to make it known that we are coming (7adults/5kids)?

Anyone have the details?

Thanks!

yes- we went to it on our trip in December with 2 4 year olds and or 7 yr old.
We totally went budget and brought our own stuff including metal skewers from home.
They were kinda a pain to carry around after because we went to DTD afterand had to carry them around.

Chip and Dale come out for autographs and then go away before the movie starts. There was a sing along before the movie too. The kids had a choice at the end of the sing along to go up on stage and sing.

We stayed at All Stars and it was quite a journey to get there and a little confusing getting around FW since the campgound area is in the middle. we had to take an internal bus to get to it. I would recommend a flashlight. It was kinda dark walking to the campsite.

I would recommend buying the smores stuff there and allow lots of travel time if using the Disney buses.

They have a movie everynight-sometimes 2 on the weekends. You can call FW to find out which movie is showing.

My DH and I took the bus there from the Boardwalk two years ago to see what it was all about. It was quite fun - we didn't stay for the movie, but the sing-along was great, and Chip and Dale were dancing around and hugging people and posing for pictures. The "bonfire" isn't that big, but there is plenty of room to roast marshmallows and hotdogs and whatever else you're in the mood for.

It took around 45 minutes to get there from the Boardwalk (Bus to TTC, Bus to FW, walk to campsite.) Actually, I think there was a change of buses within FW, but I can't remember clearly enough. It took 45 minutes though, of that I am sure.

Thanks for the info! How did you like the ASMO resort? That is where we will be staying in October!!

We didn't take our own skewers, I packed enough cheap metal coathangers from home and then unwound them and used them. Much cheaper, and we just threw them out anyhow, or maybe we let someone else use them, I forget. It was a wonderful evening and gave me one of my best memories...
You sit on wooden logs, that have been planed down flat so they aren't so uncomfortable. Before the show starts a cowboy comes out and goes on the stage with a guitar and starts everybody singing. Chip and Dale come out too. But I left my ex (not at the time) on the logs with my bigger kids and I took the younger kids to the campfire with our coathangers and marshmallows in hand. Picture this... about 10 dads with their kids around the campfire, I come in and get my kids positioned to roast marshmallows too. The cowboy starts singing zipadidoo dah, and all of a sudden, (memorex moment) the dads all start singing really softly to their kids, and you hear this hushed version over at the campfire. Still brings tears to my eyes. A wonderful disney moment away from the hustle and bustle.
Enjoy and have your own lasting memory.
That was 13 years ago... My baby is now 16

We thought it was very confusing finding the place but once we got there it was great. I agree you need to allow extra time. We missed the sing along trying to make our way around FW.
I think you can buy a smores kit for under $5 and it was more than enough for our family of 5. They had just marshmallows and skewers cheaper but don't know the price.
The movie was "The Kid" with Bruce Willis. We had gotten a fried chicken dinner carry out from Trails End (around $20) and we ate dinner and watched the movie. The kids made some friends around the campfire and had a great time.
WE LOVE ASMO. We will be staying there for the third time next October.

Our DDs enjoyed the campfire and movie as well. Let me echo the point that the location can be hard to find. Since FW is a campground, it can get very dark at night and it took us awhile to find the campfire location. So allow some time to get there. It's worth the trip.

I love ASMo.

I have stayed at the moderates and I just don't think it's worth the price. My kids are young so they love the oversized icons.

Since all 5 of us are going in January, it may seem a bit small, but I would still stay there and have 2 connecting rooms. The same price plus 4 beds and 2 bathrooms!

The Moderates are too big. You can have quite a walk to the main building if your room is far out at the resort. POP seems really big too.

The bus ride is a bit longer but because it is further out, they don't stop at any other resorts (except for sports and music sometimes).
