Can I get in trouble for this?

We are going on the 4 day cruise on April 14th. I started to look into the excursions and decided that Atlantis would be a lot of fun for the children. Then I read somewhere that you cannot use the pools or waterslides with the Disney excursion. If I ever purchased the excursion and brought my children to Atlantis to tell them they can just look, I think they would hate me for life! I asked a neighbor (who just came back from the cruise) as to what they did and she said they booked a room at the hotel. I guess you can only use the pools and waterslides as a guest of the hotel. So I booked a room today, however it cost me $340 after taxes. My neighbor said she just split the cost with another family. According to my neighbor, the other family just used her name and room number when they checked in for wrist bands to use the pools. I would like to hear what people think about this idea.

People do this all the time! However, most people book at the Comfort Suites, which is much cheaper and you still get pool privileges at Atlantis. I do believe though, you are only allowed 4 people per room, as they will only give you 4 wrist bands per room. Do a search and you will find tons of posts about booking a room at the Comfort Suites!

:D

Definitely check out the Comfort Suites. As mentioned above, you get a room for alot less, and still have all the access to the Atlantis pools and slides, etc.

I checked out the Comfort Suites but the rate is $270 and I paid $265 for Atlantis on Expedia.com. Does anyone know how to get a cheaper rate for Comfort Suites? Also, can anyone comfirm whether or not Comfort Suites will allow 5 in a room if one of the children is only 3? One of these days I am going to take an entire day off to read these boards.

Does anyone know how you get the wrist bands at Atlantis? According to my neighbor, they got the wrist bands when they asked for towels and they ended up with 9 bands for just one room. The 2 different families asked for towels at different times and they all used the same room #. Can anyone confirm whether this really works?

Hi,

Did you go to the web page for the comfort suites?
If you book over the internet you get a 10% discount. But also remember their is a 12% tax and another $6.00 per person gratuity charge.

On our Feb cruise we booked a room and headed over to the
Atlantis to get our wristbands. At the towel cabana, the women
looked at the passes that we got from CS but did not take them.
She wrote down the information on a piece of paper (room number) She told us that we could return the towels at any
towel cabana when we where ready to leave. I asked her
how they would know that we returned the towels if nothing is computerized. She said not to worry that when we return the towels they would ask for the room number also. Everything was on paper....

I guess what I am trying to say is that it seems like they don't really check who comes in as long as they have the pass from Comfort Suites. I could have given my card to someone and they could have checked at another towel hut and got their bands.

Most people abide by the rules... We didn't share our cards with anyone, but we could have very easily.

I was amazed at how easy it looked to get into the pools that I have to believe there was a major breakdown that day!!!

I also saw people who paid 25.00 per person for the hotel dig
beach package using the slides that day!!!

Interesting. Previous trip reports have been that they've been very strict in controlling access to the pools/slides. Most hotels have had some RIF (reduction on force... layoffs) since their business has dropped since 9/11. I wonder if even the mighty Atlantis has cut back somewhat in this area?

I seem to remember the wrist bands are NOT needed for children under a certin age (maybe 10 or12?????) I guess it is assumed that very young kids would not be alone at the pool. So as long as the adults have wrist bands you should be OK. Have fun and give us the latest info when you return!

Our kids were 9 & 11 last month when we went and they most definitely needed wrist bands.
