Trying to save money by buying jars of applesauce and putting it in little containers for lunches. I don't know how quickly we will go through the jar, so I was wondering can I put the applesauce in the little containers and freeze them? Will the applesauce thaw ok?

Yes I've frozen applesauce before many times - it does seem a bit watery when thawed, but I just mix it up & no one knows!

In the fall I make big batches of homemade applesauce and freeze it, and it comes out fine- as stated before, sometimes it needs stirred, but the taste and texture are good.

I do the same. I have frozen in the plastic Ziploc freezer bags and in the plastic Ziploc containers, both with success. My family LOVES homemade applesauce and it's so easy--I don't add sweeteners, just apples and cinnamon. Yum!:thumbsup2

Does it actually go bad so quickly that you'd need to freeze it? I always buy the big jars of applesauce, and it sits in the fridge for about a month before we finish it all.

yes yo ucan freeze it. I always do lots of apple sauce when we go apple picking in the fall to last me most of the winter. yummy!
