My family of four is only going to be at WDW for one day. We only have three vouchers so I am going to pay for a single day ticket for my son. Can I buy both my son and daughter a single day ticket and then use my daughter's voucher to get fast passes? Has anyone done this?

I think the FPs are only an option if you have multi-day tickets. My understanding is that you have to hand the multi-day tickets to the CM for verification before they will give you the FP voucher cards.

Here is what it says on the voucher:
Instructions for Annual Passholders and multi-day ticket
holders redeeming voucher for an alternate option instead of
the 1-day, 1-theme park ticket.

Present your valid ID, this voucher, and your valid multi-day ticket or
Annual Pass at a theme park will call ticket window to redeem for a
Disney's FASTPASS® Special Exchange card or for a Special Ear
Hat figurine with unique trading pins.

Right. The person whose name is on the voucher must have a valid multi-day ticket to redeem for the FP cards. Everyone else just needs to have valid admission. You could buy a two-day ticket, OP, but it depends if the FP cards are worth $141.65 to your family - the price for a two-day child ticket. If your daughter is 10 or older, she would need an adult ticket. An adult two-day base MYW ticket is $166.14.
