We are planning a big family vacation for Dec. 15, 2007. My UY is Dec, so I was thinking to use the 2006 and 2007 points. Here are my doubts:

1. Since the reservation is for Dec. 15, 2007, do I need to bank first my 2006 points?

2. When you make the reservation, do you need to have all the points already in or they take in consideration that on Dec. 1 you get the 2007 points since the reservation is for the 15th, or is considered as borrowing points?

Here is the thing, since is a big vacation I was thinking of using 2006 and 2007 points and borrow part of the 2008 points to complete.

Can I do this? :confused3

Thank You For All Your Help

Yes. For a December 2007 stay, you can use banked 2006, current 2007, borrowed 2008. Points don't "drop" into your account when your use year starts, they are already there for use based on the date of stay. So you could call as early as January 2007 at your home resort and use all the points above. Keep in mind, once points are banked/borrowed they cannot be returned to their original use year if you cancel.

Early December is a very busy time for DVC so you should consider making your reservations day by day right at the 11 month mark. For example, if the first night of your vacation will be Dec 15, 2007, then you should call Member Services on Jan 16, 2007 to book the first night of your trip. Tell the person you speak with at Member Services that you are booking "day by day". That way, as you call each day to add another day to your reservation, Member Services will link them all together into one reservation. Then call MS again on Jan 17th to book the night of Dec 16, 2007, and so on each day until your trip is completely booked. MS is not open on the weekend so when you call on Monday Jan 22, you will book 3 nights: Dec 19, 20 and 21 on that call. When you have booked your final day, they will send you your confirmation for the entire stay.

Also, when you call to book the first night of your stay, the first thing you should do is ask MS to bank your Dec 2006 points. That way, the banked points will be used up first for the early part of your reservation.

:scared1: WOW!! I didn't think about that.

Once you made a reservation can you change the resort? The thing is that my home resort is Saratoga, but I would like more OKW, since I know I can't book OKW until the 7 month mark, I was thinking of booking Saratoga to play safe and try to change it to OKW if is available in the 7 month mark.

Yes - if there is availability at OKW, you can change. Members do that all the time - book at their home resort at 11 months and then switch at 7 months if they can.

Best wishes -
