Can I do this with chocolate? Need quick answer!

We are having our Thanksgiving feast this afternoon since we will be in WDW on the official day .

I tried a new dessert and I need to melt two semi sweet chocolate squares then drizzle it on the dessert. I don't have a double boiler and am not too good in the baking department....can I just melt this in the microwave??

Yes, but do it very, very slowly.

You can make a double boiler just by putting a metal bowl over a pot of hot water.

You can, but a better way to do it is to make your own double boiler with a pot and putting either a glass or stainless steel bowl over it, put water in the pot and boil the water, the water should not touch the bowl at any point. The chocolate should melt smoothly.

Yes you can but only do this a few seconds at a time because it can burn very fast! The biggest thing to remember when using to microwave to melt chocolate is that it normally does not change its shape so you have to stir and check stir and check. If you just leave it alone you think it is not doing anything because it is still square and then all of a sudden it is burnt!!

If you use the microwave do it on a lower setting. Chocolate burns quickly.

Just back form our early Thanksgivng dinner. I melted the chocolate on a homeade double boiler as suggested above. It was so very easy and the dessert was great (and I am so full I has to put my PJs on at 8pm!).
