Can I do this on the Dining Plan?

Ok, so for our Sep trip, we will have extra dining credits to use up due to two of the people in our party only being with us part of the time.
We will have DGD2 along the entire time.
Will we be able to use some of the extra adult TS credits to get meals for her at Rainforest Cafe, TRex, and Planet Hollywood?
I know the credits are available for us to use as we like, but I didn't know if they would allow adult credits to be used for a child who technically isn't on the plan.
We have four Disney adults and DGD2 on our resort reservation.
Will we only be able to purchase two adult meals with credits, since there will only be two of us and DGD2 at the meal?

I don't think you'll be able to use an adult credit for a 2 y/o. My husband and I took our then 3 y/o GS down there in Feb 2011 on the DxDDP. Due to skipping some breakfasts, we saw we were going to have credits left over. The last couple of days we were down there we explained the situation to the waiter and asked if we could use one of the adult credits to order him an adult item. Each time we were told no, that even though he was on the DDP and they could see we were going to have credits left over, he had to order from the kids menus and use his kid's credits. The rules say that you can not share credits with people not on the DDP and since your GD would just be 2 y/o she would not be on the DDP. If they would not let us use an extra credit for our grandson who was actually on our DDP, I can't see how they would let your GD who is not even on the DDP use one. I'd still ask though. You might get lucky. We asked at T Rex, Chef's de France, Grand Floridian Cafe, and Rainforest Cafe and was told no each time.

At 2 doesn't she still come under the 'eat off your plate' age?
In which case, order yourself two meals?

Maybe take advantage of the extra credits for a couple signature meals?

This is what I was thinking.
If we just said we wanted an extra meal to share between us, would they allow it?
I don't know if there is a stipulation of one meal per person per reservation.
Anyone else know about this?

It is my understanding that you can only use as many (adult) TS credits in a meal as you have (adult) people on plan sitting there. :confused3

FWIW, a lot oif the signature dining places are not character related in any way. If the issue is "fine" dining, the ones in the parks especially are going to be very kid friendly and pretty casual just by the nature of disney's business.

Good luck no matter what you decide. And maybe you'll get lucky and get a waiter who will let you go around the system

You can only use as many TS credits per meals as you have adults on your KTW card. So if it says 2 adults, you can get 2 meals.
That said, OOP for kids' meals isn't very expensive, or you might get her an appetizer and share some of your meal.

Her card will say 4 adults but only 2 adults and the toddler will be at the meal.

Personally, I would splurge and use the credits on siggie meals. If you aren't into the fine dining thing, there are still things like Hoop De Doo, the luau, etc. that take two credits. What about booking the Brown Derby with the fantasmic package on your HS day? That would use two credits.

It doesn't matter- you can use less credits than there are people on card but not MORE than the number of adults sitting at the table. And you still can't use an adult TS credit for a child or vice versa *shrug* Plus, By the terms of the dining plan, it is not allowed to use DP credits for anyone not on the plan (which granddaughter is not).

If you (OP) are not into Signature dining are the other 2 adults who are coming for part of the time? Are they the granddaughter's parents? Maybe they would like to have a nice date nite dinner at a signature before they leave?

Thank-you to everyone for the input and information.
I had a feeling we would only be able to use as many credits as what we had people for at the meal.

We will probably just plan a few extra TS meals and pay oop for DGD's food. Should easily be under $10 per meal, so no biggie.
Would be nice to use those extra credits on her food, rather than paying more, but it is what it is.
I am thinking I will probably be able to share with her from my plate and still be satisfied. We can get something extra if we find we need it.
Last time on the plan, we were stuffed the whole time we were there!!

We thought about Hoop-de-Doo, but i don't think she will sit for it. She has a lot of energy, and getting her to be calm at meals is a chore. Which is another reason for not doing any fine dining!!!

DD is the only parent in the picture, so no date night!!! Thanks for the suggestion though!

We'll work it out!!
I just like to know the options going into the situation, so I can plan it out without any nasty surprises in the end.

Thanks again to everyone who responded!!

One thing to keep in mind is that kids under 3 are free at buffets and family style places. So, if you burn those extra credits at these types of locations, you won't have to add anything additional for the little one to have her own food.

Of course, buffets with little ones are a challenge unto themselves ;).

The last time we were at the world with DGS and DGD we had extra TS credits. The restaurant in Italy (not Via Napoli...don't know why the name escapes me right now) allowed us to order an extra meal even though there were four of us at the table. I would certainly ask, you never know where you may get a "Yes"!

You could use the extra dining credits for Cinderella's Royal Table or you could do Mickey's Backyard BBQ or the Brown Derby. That is what I would do. Buffets would be great for an under two as well.

I don't think you are "allowed" to do this, but they may let you, depending on the restaurant. You can also use your TS for quick service if you have leftovers. That's what we had to do with a couple meals that our son slept through. It made for a nice meal for the kids on the Magical Express back to the airport.

I guess all we can do is ask.
If they let us do it, great! If not, we'll survive and pay oop if we need more food.
Unfortunately, we are probably going to have leftover CS meals also, so using the TS credits for CS won't get us anywhere!

My grandsons get hungry at odd times and more often than we do, since they are often too excited to eat much at meal time. What about scheduling the buffet at Grand Floridian that has characters, at Beach club for breakfast, with characters, etc. If you schedule the buffet at beach club, or is it boardwalk(?) during a day at epcot, you can try for the latest breakfast seating, mainly feed your granddaughter, then when you go to your lunch she will probably sleep!

Also, Mickeys Back Yard BBQ is great fun for children, as they have very kid friendly food choices!!

Whatever you decide, have a wonderful trip!!
