Hi there,

I am very excited to possibly be moving to florida! I am expected to move there by October, 2006 and will be definantly purchasing a florida resident premium annual pass. Now I will probably be visiting the orlando area either dec of this year or feb (spring break) for interviews and searching for housing etc. During this time I plan to visit DW. Should I go ahead and purchase the 10-day MYW tix with no expiration, then use the remaining credit of what I don't use, toward the florida resident premium annual pass in October? Can I do this? Is it possible to do this? and most importantly will it be worth it and is there a better way to do? Thanks so much. You guys are great!

Absolutely. Any unused ticket media can be upgraded as long as you have paid the extra to get non-expiring. Last May I traded in a 6 day MYW park hopper for an AP and had no problem doing so.

Just to keep things straight, your Dec or Feb no expiration ticket cannot be upgraded since that can only be done prior to use or within 14 days of first use. To upgrade a ticket in Disneyspeak is to apply the full value of the ticket towards a new one.

You will be able to apply the dollar value of the unused admissions towards the new purchase as long as you have the no expiration option on the ticket. Applying the dollar value gives you credit only for the unused admissions on your ticket.

Keep in mind when you do this that MYW tickets are front loaded valuewise. That means that the more days you have used up, the less per day value the ticket will have left. It isn't a simple case of (example figures only) you paid $200 for a 4 day ticket and have one day left so you get a $50 credit for the one day anymore. The ticket will need to be scanned by Guest Relations to tell you exactly what your credit will be. If for example you have a 10 day ticket and used up 7 of the days, your credit will be the value of the 3 final days, not 3/7 of the original price of the ticket.

GoldenOldie,
hmm. So lets see if my brain is working properly  I do understand that I would be able to apply credit of unused days only..that is fair enough, however, I am not quite sure I follow the second part. I assume that if you pay $365.20 for 10 day park hopper, no expiration. Each day would be divided equally at $36.52. So if I used 6 out of the 10 days. I would have used $219.12, leaving $146.08 left over to apply to the florida resident premium annual pass. This seems to make sense...but your post indicates that this would not be the case. Is there any formula out there to find out what the actual price per day breakdown is as it would technically be the same no matter what ticket was purchased. Right? :confused3 . I hope this makes sence. I think my brain is hurting :rotfl2:

I'm not sure that is how it works, although that is the way we think of it as "28" per day, I think Disney thinks of it more like:Day one $59.75, day 2 $50, Day 3 $50, Day 4 $14, Day 5 $7, Day 6 $3, Day 7 $3, day 8 $3, Day 9 $3, Day 10 $3. :confused3

Here's the cost of base tickets:

Magic Your Way Base Ticket
(gate price for admission to one theme park per day, including tax)

# Days Adult (ages 10 and up) Child (ages 3-9)
1 $63.63 $51.12
2 $126.74 $102.24
3 $182.12 $145.91
4 $197.03 $157.62
5 $205.55 $165.08
6 $208.74 $167.21
7 $211.94 $170.40
8 $215.13 $172.53
9 $218.33 $174.66
10 $221.52 $177.86

If you use 5 days, the value of the remaining 5 days would only be about $16. You might be better off just buying the days you need for your first trip and skipping the no expiration (which is $100 on a 10 day).

Well that certainly makes a huge difference. I think you are right DebbieB by just purchasing what I need. Thanks for clearing this up everyone! Everyone here is such a great help! :grouphug: I can't wait until I am closer to the world permanently!! A lifetime dream coming true
