**I'm sure the answer to this is on these boards somewhere, but I searched to no avail.**

OK, we are traveling with 6 adults, 1 child and 1 2yo. Right now I have 3 rooms at the Polynesian booked from 1/24-1/29 with a AAA room discount. I am planning to adding tickets and dining, but I am waiting (not-so-patiently) to see what might get offered for January in the way of discounts.

My questions:

1) If Free Dining is offered, do I still get to keep my AAA room discount?

2) If nothing better than AAA becomes available & I want to add tickets & dining, I know I have to go through AAA Travel. Can they (AAA) take my current room reservations & convert them or will I have to start all over with them?

Thanks!

No, you can not combine free dining and any other dicount. You can not stack discounts, you have to choose one or the other.

I would assume AAA would take care of turning your room only reservation into a package. I would just call your AAA agent and ask.

Disney doesn't stack discounts. While you could change to a package and probably keep your AAA room discount with the paid dining plan, to get free dining you must pay rack rate for the room. The dining serves as your discount.

I would take free dining over the AAA discount in a heartbeat. Have you checked with a Disney World specialist? I found the AAA folks to be more order takers than true Disney fanatics.

Thanks. I was certain that wouldn't work with other discounts (i.e. Free Dining + General Public room code), but wasn't 100% sure about AAA.

No, chan3bbb, I haven't talked to anyone else about booking my trip. We always do it ourselves. I'm just a little flustered this time around since it's our first time to add the DDP. Plus, I'm holding off to see if anything else comes out. If not, I'll have to turn it over to AAA anyway to keep my room discount & add the DDP.

The way I'm figuring it, Free Dining would save us an extra $27 (approx.) per night on the rooms with 2 adults. So, it's certainly better. We'll see.

you need to crunch the numbers. It depends on your resort, and the discount % you get. This past Sept I had a AAA discount of 40% off the BCV.Which saved me over $600 ( almost $700).The free dining only would have saved me over a little over $400.So for me the decision was a no brainer.I have a diseny fanatic as a AAA agent so I generally go thru them. The deepest discounts to be had are during AAA Disney month in January.

I agree. The free dining discount vs. the room discount savings will depend on which resort you are staying at and also the number of people (kids) in your party. We have 4 kids and get two connecting rooms at a value. There is no discount for us that is better than free dining. The fall room discount saved us $637.00. When I called and applied the Disney Visa free dining code it saved us $1,600.00. So we saved $1,000.00 more with the free dining code than the fall general public code. If you are staying at a deluxe level resort and only have one or two kids, most of the time the room code is better.

I always find this interesting, for the past two years, Jan 07 and Jan 08, we've gotten a AAA discount on our room and have also recieved the free upgraded to tickets from disney. I realize that free upgraded tickets are in no way comparable to free dining, but I would certainly give up the room discount for free dining if I had to!
