Can I check this with Southwest?

Also in mindreading mode, I got the impression the poster was trying to determine if it could be checked as a baby item, exempt from the luggage allowance. Based on the information from Southwest.com, it can't. I'm guessing that's because it's not needed on the plane or to navigate the airport.

Yes, I was trying to determine if it would qualify as a baby item. I just wanted to be sure it wouldn't be counted so I didn't go over the bag limit. Now that I know it will be counted, I'll be sure to count that in our bag count while I am packing. Thanks for your help!!

OP may have asked but the answer is irrelevant. OP is a party of 5 and said they won't be near SWs 10 item checked limit.

OP--Your "real" limit is what will fit in whatever vehicle you're using to get to the airport and whatever vehicle you're renting for your vacation.

It's always "entertaining" in the rental garage watching famlies try to put more luggage then can possibly fit in a vehicle. A party of 2 or 3 can pile luggage on a seat.

We have a minivan rented. I think we should be fine with fitting all of our luggage. We shouldn't be anywhere near the limit, but it is always NICE to know what counts and what doesn't. I went to the airport last time and they tried to count my single jogger as a bag. Southwest counter person was sure strollers counted as luggage. It was nice to "know" because we were at our limit on that trip. Thanks again!

We also decided to rent a double jogger this trip instead of taking our Bob double stroller to cut down on luggage that we are carrying with us.

There is nothing else I wanted to know. Did you see another question stated in what you quoted? Did you have anything helpful to add or did you want to state the obvious?!

There is nothing wrong with that response. Nothing snarky at all. This 'play yard' isn't going to qualify as a baby need and free checking. Those things would be those types of things that would be needed at the airport or immediately after/prior to the flight....car seats being the most common, as well as strollers. A crib/play yard isn't going to qualify. You did ask for someone with personal experience doing this...the issue would be that very few people travel with a playpen.

As you seem to know already, this piece of equipment will be considered checked baggage. It fits the size requirements easily. I would be concerned with rough handling though. Have you considered using the portaplay units they have in the villas? Would hate to see that get damaged in transit. Way too expensive.

I haven't travelled with a Pack N Play because it is just too heavy & bulky for what we have needed it for, and my 2.5 year old is now too tall for PnP's as well. I ended up getting a cheapie toddler cot that weighs around 7 lbs and would fit in a suitcase (walmart; $24) and she has slept on it without any issues in a number of locations. I was hesitant to move to a cot vs. a crib, but she is in a toddler bed now (has been since she turned 2) and uses a cot at daycare for naps.

That is what I would suggest as a travel bed option - but if you like the large crib option then I'd just check it in the box, maybe with a bag taped around it? I would be hesitant to check a PnP outside of a suitcase so that is my only fear with you checking the travel crib!

I am completely confused by your snarky post. I merely pointed out that your question had been answered and asked if there was anything else you wanted to know. My response was in no way rude or snarky. If you take offense at innocent remarks from strangers on public boards, perhaps they are not for you.
