my husband is bringing our car to his sisters and taking a cab back or do we all have to be there to check in?

I would like to check all the luggage at least while we are waiting for him...can I?

Thanks.....

If the total number of suitcases is within the baggage allowance of everybody except your husband, then youcan check them all without your husband's presence.

Example: Airline allows 3 pieces of baggage per person and there are four of you. With one person absent from the check in counter, nine pieces of baggage can be checked and your husband can carry on board a tenth. (Or six pieces of baggage can be checked and each person including your husband can carry on board one piece for a total of ten.)

Okay .... this will probably sound stupid...

Usually they check our luggage in and give us our boarding passes at the same time.....how will this work if he is not with me.

I can use the curbside check in for all the luggage - without him - which will be much easier than trying to trek all luggage and 4 kids in alone but what about our boarding passes????? Do they give them at curbside check in or no......can he stay with me at curbside check in long enough to get his boarding pass and THEN leave to bring the car to his sisters......that doesnt sound right....

I am so confused:( Our plans for our car flew out the window tonight and we are scrambling for an alternative.

Does your airline offer online check in? Many airlines offer online check in 24-30 hours ahead. You can print your boarding pass and you wouldn't have to worry about your husband. Many hotels in WDW have business centers where you could access the internet and print boarding passes for a fee.

If you are using curb side you cannot get a boarding pass without your husband showing his id. If it is not crowded the skycap can quickly check his id and issue a boarding pass to you.
Dee and I do this all the time. He drops the luggage and me at the skycap station, shows his ID to the skycap and then returns the car. When he gets back we are good to go. Of course, I do have the tickets ready for the skycap to check the name against his id and my tip is quite visable (not sure if that makes a difference, but, it seems to insure very prompt service :) ).

I am flying out of JFK in NY and we are flying Delta's Song.

I can't print my boarding passes at home because they do not allow that if you need to check luggage.

Another questions I have....should I buy luggage tags for the kids luggage or do they provide them for you....I always packed everyone in one LARGE suitcase but this time they each have their own.

Thanks so much for all your help - it is getting so close I can't stand it!

They have luggage tags at all checkin points. Take spares for the return tip home. Don't put your home address on the departing flight, use the resort's address (the resort name and wdw will be fine), this way if the bags are lost, they will get to you faster and it does not alert people that you are not home.

Check your husband in online and print his boarding pass. You will then check all luggage under you and the kids name. All hubby will have to do now is join you in the gate area.

You really could still check in online for everyone and then just stand in line for luggage check at the airport. They can not deny you the right to check luggage.
