Can I Change DS to Adult Rate?

OK, I have ressies for DS who is 9(will turn 10 a month after trip) with MYW tix and DDP. Can I upgrade his MYW tix to Adult and also get him at the adult rate for the Free Dining? This would give us more flexability as he is picky eater and might not like what is on Kids Menu. I know that generally you can do this, that is pay adult rates as long as you pay adult rate on their tix. But I am wondering if I can do this with the Free DIning?

Why not just list him as 10 on the reservations. I have never had Disney ask me to prove my DD age. She is 16 but looks 8. Although she can not eat food due to her handicaps we have to buy the dining plan for her. We just purchase her the adult plan and use the credits to eat more TS meals ourselves. We left last year with unused CS meals.

I called CRO and asked them and they said that as long as I pay Adult ticket rate, it would be ok to change DS to "adult" for DDP. This will make things sooo much easier as far as choices. And I won't have to feel bad about him eating jello while I am eating my yummy desserts!
