It's been so long since I have had to cancel just a portion of a trip, I have no idea if I can!

I have a 7 night reservation that I need to cancel the last two nights. I am hoping I dont need to cancel the whole thing and rebook, or do I? :confused3

Thanks!

Hi Laura,

You can cancel nights without having to rebook. Regular holding rules will apply if you are in your 31 day window.

Sweet! Whew!

Now... Can I drop the first day off the dining plan? :lmao:

If you have a 7 day ressie, and borrowed (for ex:) 20 points for it.... and then you cancel just 2 days of it...what happens to the borrowed points? Meaning, how do they determine WHICH day uses the borrowed points?

Since you hve to used curent points first, more than likely it's the last days of the reservation that have the borrowed points.

And Diane... didnt we get to shave off a day at the begining or the end for the dining plan at some point (maybe years ago lol)

If you used some borrowed points, just ask the CM at MS to be sure the borrowed points are used for the days NOT cancelled and the current use year points are freed up by the cancelled day(s).

Jek... I dont think you have that option.. If the last three nights of your reservation used borrowed points to book, you can't (unless there is availablity) switch out the borrowed points for the regular points at the begining of the reservation... again unless there is availbilty. Then what you would be doing is canceling the whole reservation then rebook the frist part using the borrowed points.

Maybe this is another of those things that depends on the CM? I have done this very thing with no problem. (I am assuming that the reservation in question is now one reservation or linked.) I just called on Saturday to do this (except I wanted to use banked points and free up current use year points). I was even told that if I needed to cancel the whole reservation, I can take the banked points and swap them for current points in another reservation I already have WITHOUT CANCELING AND REBOOKING. It is really beginning to bother me that there are so many occasions when MS gives different interpretations to the rules.

Laurabearz-totally OT, just wanted to say keep up the good work on NOT Smoking!!:)

Yes, but that was a different plan. Now it's all or nothing.

Hmm, maybe it does depend on who you talk to. But I've never had to use current points before borrowed points. I've changed many reservations that have included borrowed, current, and banked and I have never had to cancel and rebook. Just be sure to have them verify your points to make sure they allot your points the way you want. If the CM tells you that you have to cancel the reservation, I would call back.
