We are staying at Coronado Springs July 12-19. I heard that Cabanas 9B is the best to stay in . Is it appropriate to call the resort and make the request to have a room in this area of the resort?:earseek:

You can call central reservations and request that building. Just keep in mind it is a request so if you are placed elsewhere you can still have a great vacation. That is a very popular part of the resort.

I just called Coronado Springs to see if I could request that room. It turns out that the CM who answered the phone was also from my borough in NYC, so I knew that I probably had a good chance! She put the request in. So we will see. I also told her that this trip was a celebration of sorts. My DD and DS just celebrated their birthdays 2 weeks ago. She said she would see to it that balloons and some cards signed by some characters would be waiting for us in our room when we arrive. I can't wait to see the looks on my kids faces.

I LOVE DISNEY!!!!:earsgirl: :earsboy::earsgirl: :earsboy:

poppee1, just keep in the back of your mind that they could forget the balloons for your kids. Others have posted that CM's volunteered to do something and it didn't happen. Many many people are celebrating something at WDW and requests can fall into the cracks.

WDW is great though for creating magical moments. I hope it happens for your family.

Ditto to Safetymom. Please don't be dissapointed if there is no acknowledgement of birthdays.

The Cabanas area of CSR has the fewest rooms and is very popular. Your room location entirely depends on how full the resort is, and how many people have also requested that location.

Have a fun trip!

I believe it depends more on what time of the day you show up to check-in. Somebody standing in front of a CM will get their request if it is available. I don't believe rooms are blocked out because of requests.

I thought that the whole idea of faxing room requests 3-4 days before check-in was because room controllers do block out requested rooms in advance.

yes they do, but they can also over-ride them at check-in
