Can I buy 200 points through DVC (I want the 10 year financing) for Beach Club or the Boardwalk? We usually stay in the Epcot area so it appeals more to us than SSR area. I know it expires sooner than SSR. We just want to know if we can and what use month is the easiest to obtain. Which resort is harder to get reservations for the Boardwalk or the Beach Club? We are concerned with so many more DVC members with SSR of getting "locked out" of staying at these resorts. Do you think that is a real possibility? Thanks for any help.. We need to make a decsion soon. We do not want to go through re-sale, We want to buy straight from DVC. Thanks for your help :)

I am trying to do the same thing at BW right now. Some people have posted that it is really easy but I am not finding it so easy to do. I think alot of it depends on your luck. If you are lucky, you can find the points you need right away, if not, you may have to wait for a while. Especially if you want the beach club. Some people have to wait a long time for BC. But supposedly, they have BW points in inventory much more frequently. Anyhow, I would say if that is what you want then go for it. We have an add on thread over on the DVC community board, if you decide to go this route, please post it over there.

Probably. Call DVC and tell them you only want one of those two resorts. See what they have to say. You'll pay $89 per point with no promotional discounts available, and you'll have to put 20% down.

There's a rumor floating about that the price may soon rise to $94 for those resorts.

Depends on what they have in inventory at any given time. A better question to ask is which Use Year would best fit your vacation schedule. Ideally you want one that immediately preceeds your normal vacation schedule in order to maximize your flexibility.

Hard to tell. BCV has fewer rooms, but BWV has the lower-point Standard View class, as well as a Boardwalk View. IMO, don't worry about which is harder--just get the one that you prefer.

We are concerned with so many more DVC members with SSR of getting "locked out" of staying at these resorts. Do you think that is a real possibility?

I think the main impact will be the availability of the Standard View and Boardwalk View at BWV. Those have always been in short supply at 7 mos.

IMO, the true impact of the SSR ownership will be that the smaller resorts will reach 100% occupancy faster than they have in the past. Only BWV owners have access to their own resort from 11-8 months out, and that population will not change. So, the number of rooms available at 7 months will be about the same as in the past. But, those available rooms may be gobbled-up quicker by owners at other resorts.

We own points at SSR, and so far 3 of our 4 stays have included rooms at BWV and BCV--including the Standard View room we have booked this spring at BWV.

Thanks for your replies... It is a tough decision. We will make a decison soon..I am glad to know you were able to get the other resorts when you wanted them. I am thinking I might just take my chances and buy at SSR and hopefully be able to try out all the other resorts along the way.

Despite what I said above, if any stay that you cannot get into the BWV or BCV will be considered a failure, then do NOT buy at SSR. No sense putting yourself through that because you inevitably will fail at times.

We bought our points at SSR with the mindset that any resort at WDW would be great. They all have their own distinctive flavor, and are all of the same high quality. Funny thing was that all things being equal we probably would have bought points at the Boardwalk. It was only after 3 or 4 trips that we discovered Saratoga Springs is actually our favorite resort. :)

But, if you really want to make the vast majority of your stays in that Epcot area AND will be able to consistently book your trips more than 7 months in advance, then I would just buy at one of those resorts.

We were wary of trying to buy from someone else besides DVC ... but then we heard from our guide that there was a loooong waiting list for the BWV, and the price was $89 pp.

We ended up going thru the Timeshare Store. So far, it's gone very smoothly.

We are waiting to hear back from Disney re ROFR, but if all goes well, we'll soon be the happy owners of another 160 DVC pts, at the Boardwalk, for $80 pp. And: we'll get all 160 2004 pts that have been banked for our use this year! :Pinkbounc

getting BW or BCV is tough via Disney..........expect a long wait...........a resale is far easier and will require that you come up with the financing............that is the only down side........once your in your just like anyone else who bought from disney

If you are unable to buy the points for BCV or BWV direct from Disney maybe you can find a very small contract thru resale and then go on the waitlist for the majority of your points. That way you are "in" and can still utilize the Disney financing.

Mom Poppins, we actually are on a waiting list for 200 points at the BWV through DVC. Our guide told us it would probably take 10-20 days but we were picky with our use month year..i imagine if you would take any month it would happen even quicker-hope it helps!

i think your guide is misleading you..........we know someone who has been waiting for 9 months at BW

I know it was only for 50 BWV points but I got them direct fom Disney within a week and have already used them to add to a ressie!!!

Just for the record, no mention of the guide in either post. Am I right Mom Poppins? I think she is just exploring the possibilities here.

Mom P and I have the same guide. She has been selling DVC since the earliest OKW days, and in my experience has been entirely truthful. Having bought our original contract thru her as well as three add-ons, I trust her implicitly, and have never been steered wrong.

Mom P, I would recommend that you contact your guide, and ask her the likelihood of getting BWV or BCV instead of SSR. I would estimate you would need a lot of patience going this route. Others report long waits for BWV points, and BCV point being near impossible to come by thru Disney. Also there are far better incentives for SSR. I would expect that your family will enjoy SSR quite a bit, especially with the older ones getting into prime Disney Quest territory. But ask your guide if she thinks this is a realistic possibility; then decide what you want to do.

Best of luck!

Mom Poppins - just curious, why so rigid about a resale? I bought two contracts last September, both same number of points, both same Use Year. One directly from Disney (Hilton Head) and one from resale (Beach Club). I promise, there was no difference in ease of sale. All staff equally friendly and helpful, both closings equally smooth. If you need the Disney financing, then it's a moot point, and I absolutely understand your feelings, but if you're using other $$$$, then a resale will probably get you what you want a lot sooner!!!! Good luck either way - you will absolutely love DVC!!!!

Hi pumpkinboy :) Yes we do have the same guide, she is out for a few days so I came here to ask questions in the meantime. The quote above is speaking of a guide but It was not my post :) I have not asked our guide about going the BWV route yet. Today is the day I am suppose to talk to her and make up our minds ... finally! Thanks again for the help!

When we first called to inquire about the Boardwalk our guide Randy had 150 points available but we werent ready to move on it that quick. Last week when we gave him all of our info so he could move ahead he told us he had a few points but not enough to cover the 200 we wanted so i think they do become available pretty often.
