Can I bring personalized m&ms from DS on board? (unsure b/e of packaging)

From Disney Cruise line Prohibited and Restricted items:
  • Nonperishable snack foods in original factory-sealed packaging. All items must either be consumed prior to returning to your home port or remain unopened
So the question is the package factory sealed? In order to take the snack food off the ship it must not be opened and remain in the factory sealed package.

Most likely nothing will happen trying to take prohibited or restricted items off the ship as they will probably be small items in your bag that are not found by the cruise line or customs.. I do not think they X-ray bags coming off the ship but you have to be prepared to have items confiscated and risk penalties and fines if the items are found and determined to be prohibited.

For a more specific answer I would call DCL as I would expect they can give you the most complete answer based on your situation.

Interesting question. I'd tend to think it wouldn't be noticed or found, but I can understand the desire to know for sure so you don't waste $20 of custom candy...

Seems there may be discrepancy in how the m&ms are packaged. Two posters indicate taped or twist-tie...
It’s basically a clear celeohabe bag that they fold closed.
They sell them in a clear cellophane bag with a twistie.
But the blog post shows what looks like a factory-sealed 10 oz bag...
Both of these pics from the blog linked above appear to be sealed:

I'd be tempted to give it a try at the port, but I do understand not wanting to throw away $20 candy.

I think it depends which ones you are getting. I haven't gotten the customized ones at the store before. We usually get the bulk ones, which you put in a cellophane bag with a twistie or purchase a special container. I don't remember if I have brought them on DCL before though. I think the store opened after/during covid. I know we didn't have them on our only cruise since covid.

As for Gideons, I have brought a couple of those, partially eaten, on the ship. I guess because they are small, they didn't notice. They were in our carry on, along with our Ganachery chocolates, which were unopened in the "sealed" box they place them in. Both of these are fairly small though.

I had this same question about ganache from the Ganachery at Disney Springs. The workers there had no idea if a box of ganache squares would be allowed on the cruise ship, but, after having a short conference about it, they decided that the ganache would probably be allowed because it was packaged in a commercial package, even though it wasn't sealed. Sure enough, nobody seemed to care when I brought the ganache onboard.
