Can I brag a little? WARNING; pic heavy!

So, i've been eyeing those cute painted Mickey and Minnie Toms on Etsy but, for the average price of $90, I just couldn't justify the expense. I thought about it and said, "hey! I could probably make my own for MUCH cheaper!" So I bit the bullet and bought a comfortable pair of imitation canvas shoes on ebay for less than $15. I just didn't want to risk ruining a $54 pair of Toms at my first attempt at this project. So, with supplies in hand, I painted my own canvas shoes. And I think they turned out pretty well! I'm actually surprised at this since I've always considered myself to be artistically-challenged.

What do you think? I can't wait to wear my shoes on my September trip! The imitation Toms (aka Bills, as i've taken to calling them! ) are actually really comfortable.

Looks great, but looking at your first picture Mickey would be on the left and Minnie on the right.

I am definitely artistically challenged--I can color well enough but that's about it.

Great job! I love it, I've been having the same dilemma... I have an artsy friend who was going to paint my toms, but I'm afraid of them getting ruined.

They are SO cute! I had to open this thread (despite the "pic heavy" warning) just to find out what a "tom" was. They look nice, whether they are tom, dick, harry, or bill! Nobody would know you are artistically challenged if you didn't tell them.

Yesh! You should try it. It was actually surprisingly easy to paint canvas shoes. I'm very tempted to doctor my solid-colored real Toms, even.

Hm...let's see: for Epcot, you could do the Mickey head flags at world showcase (though this could be tedious and you'd need lots of different paint colors. Or you could go basic and do Spaceship Earth

For AK, you could do the obvious animal print. That'd be really easy to paint on shoes, too!

For DHS, maybe the sorcerer's hat on one shoe and a silhouette of Sorcerer Mickey on the other?

For MK, maybe the silhouette of the Castle? You could get a pair of sparkly pink canvas shoes and do this design and it'd be so adorable!

I wish I had a talent for sketching as I think it would be cute to execute these ideas!
