Hi there

I wonder if any of you can help.

We are about to book VWL at our 11 month window and wonder if it is possible to book a 3 day cruise in the middle of our vacation at the same time.

Yes Steve, you can book your cruise, but . . . DVC does not have a contract on points yet with DCL. So . . . you can book and reserve your cruise but only the Almighty knows how many points it will cost you. I posted a note on this recently, and most everyone but me thought that was OK.

I decided to book the cruise for cash instead, and I will use my points for our stay instead. BTW - Cruising on the 3 day Feb 28th 2002 Wonder!

We have booked 2 cruises with our points and both times we did it 11 months in advance and combined it with a DVC stay. The only 2 recommendations
that I have are, take the 4 day criuse (3 days is too short) and,if you can, get a room with a verandah. In any event I am sure that you will love the cruise.

Here's a question--if they don't know how many points the cruise segment will be, what if you don't have the required points, can you make up for it with cash? The 3 day cruise/4 day WDW is in our future within the next 3 years. If we book at our 11 month window for the land portion, but the cruise points turn out to be too many, do they automatically let us know how much cash we'll need?
Asking because we have 160 points--looking to bank 2003 and borrow 2005 and cruise in 2004. But with our family of 5 we still won't have enough points for both parts of our stay. The Disney site tells me we can't go under category 4 because we have 3 kids.

Hi Robin, You can book the cruise with points for one or two adults and pay cash for the remaining adult and/or children. Be aware, however, that when you do this you will be paying a pre-arranged price that Member Services has negotiated with Disney Cruise Lines. The cash price to do this is usually higher than if you were to book a cruise totally on cash with early bookings savings, Fall Fantasy, etc. I booked my last cruise with points for two adults and paid cash for one child. It worked out very well for my situation. Good luck! :)
