Can I book a trip with 2012 pojnts before UY starts?

Hi all, am I able to book a reservation using my 2012 points this week even though my UY is April 2012 and those points haven't become available yet?? Would I be borrowing? Or no, since the trip actually happens after the points have become available?

Points are taken from the UY that the reservation will take place in, not based on when you call. You can always book 11 months in advance of your check-in date at your home resort and 7 months in advance at non-home resorts.

Yes you may - call and book. If you go to the members website it gives you dates you can book on your right for your 11 month window and dates you can book for when your 7 month window opens up.

The only month you can't book for is December 2012 since your 11 month window is not here yet. (I am waiting to do this - I have an April UY too but has nothing to do with when I want to go).

If you check your DVC account on the member website, you will see points for April 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014. So 2012 are "available". You could even borrow 2013 for a stay on or after 4-1-12.

i'm probably repeating some information but just to walk you through it:

your 2012 pts are valid for stays from april 1, 2012 to march 31, 2013.

if you borrowed them, they would be valid for stays from april 1, 2011 to march 31, 2012.

so theoretically - if you had used borrowed 2012 pts for a stay on april 1, 2011, the earliest you could have called to book that stay would have been may 1, 2010 at your home resort.

don't think for a second that your points are not "available" yet or that they are "deposited" on april 1, 2012. your 2014 pts are currently showing online in your member account...you are only limited by your booking window.

use year just tells you when the points are valid for stays and when your banking window closes.
