So I'm finally planning on getting an AP this year but there's something I want to try... it probably won't work though. :(

I intend on going on my birthday in August to take advantage of the deal and my sister and her DBF might come along. I'll have an AP by then so I don't need the free admission. Sis and her DBF will need to get hoppers. I don't REALLY need the fun card, but I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade my free admission to a hopper and give that hopper to either my sis or her dbf. That way, I figure we can save some costs.

[wow, this sounds confusing... hope you all are following me okay!]

Will they let me do this? I'm a little scared that when I try to upgrade my free admission they'll notice the loophole and say, "Sir, are you an AP holder?"

Gulp?

That is VERY tricky. I don't even know!

I know that the fun card is supposed to be like money. I'm wondering if you could use that money towards a hopper? This might be fishy though because its not going towards you. I hope someone here has some good info on it because it would ease up the cost for the overall trip.

I know that you can upgrade to a hopper from the free admission. I'm sure it's not encouraged, but what I don't know is if I can give that hopper away. I think that if I get the fun card, then there are no exchanges. I can't go back and say "Oh, I'd like to upgrade this to a hopper".

No.

This is from the literature given to CMs about this promotion (emphasis mine):

Disneyland Resort said:
Can a Guest upgrade their free birthday ticket to a multi-day ticket or add ticket options?

Yes, the free birthday ticket may be upgraded. However, the Guest is responsible for the incremental upgrade cost. The upgraded ticket may still only be used by the birthday celebrant.

Your name appears on the Free Birthday Ticket, and I'm sure it would appear on any upgrade ticket, as well.

A CM in ticketing over on mouseplanet says that you can use the fun card to buy tickets. So maybe you could go first, and then once you have the fun card, and they go to buy their tickets, you could toss the fun card their way to help them get a hopper instead of a one-park?
