We will be arriving at the Poly about 7pm but it will be the equivalent of 1am UK time so will not be fit for anything but bed... I have booked with an AP discount using my AP voucher, can I activate this at the Poly or does it have to be guest relations at one of the parks? Is there anywhere else that can activate it like at the airport?

Thanks a million

Nicola

No you can't You have to do it at a Guest Relations Epcot,MK,AK,ST or DTD. I to wish they would let us activate at the resorts. It is a pain to run to a Guest Relations before you can check in. Be forwarned. Some CM's will not give you the room discount unless your AP is Activated. I have the same problem will have to get to Guest relations before I check in. Since I will not take a chance of not getting my discount.

Hugpug is right, you can only activate an AP voucher at Guest Relations or at a ticket window at one of the four theme parks, or at Guest Relations at Downtown Disney.

The airport Disney stores can NOT activate a voucher; they only sell new, fully-activated APs.

Hugpug is also right that some CMs at check-in give you a hard time about the AP rates if you have not yet activated your voucher. However, if this happens, politely but firmly insist on seeing a supervisor, and explain in no uncertain terms that

A) an AP voucher is absolutely, completely, and in all other ways, NON-REFUNDABLE, so having one prooves beyond a shadow of a doubt that you have already paid for your AP but simply have not yet activated it. Don't take no for an answer; an AP voucher is rock-solid, undeniable proof that you have already forked over a lot of money to WDW for your AP, and since it's impossible to return the voucher under any circumstances, you cannot possibly be pulling a fast one to get the cheaper rate then return it, so the resorts darn well better honor the AP rate that you booked.

B) You've been travelling for about 6 days without sleep, are totally exhausted and in need of a rest, a meal, and a shower (not nessicarily in that order), and you are simply too tied to go all the way to one of the activation points before check-in.

Don't worry about this too much, however. CMs who don't want to honor your AP rate are few and far between; in fact, I have not heard of this situation coming up for quite a while (over a year). Even when it did happen, the supervisors always gave in when the AP holder pressed the matter and explained (calmly, without any yelling or threats) what the true situation is with a voucher.

I activated two APs in June at the TTC ticket windows which is within easy walking distance of the Poly. I wasn't coming from the UK so I wasn't overly tired but I wanted it done before the next morning so I didn't have to waste time then.

I believe that TTC began activating AP's sometime last year. Not too many people know that this is an option now. Thanks for posting this info.

I also activated my AP at the TTC last year. Those windows seem to close early though, so I don't know if you'll still be able to do it around 7 p.m.

I think the TTC has always activated APs. You can also purchase them at the TTC.

Years ago, it was the primary place to buy tickets.....hence its name. ;)

Any theme park ticket window, not just the TTC, can exchange your voucher for the AP. It is not a Guest Relations only transaction. It's been that way for many years but few people have known or utilized the capability.

Thanks for all the responses everyone, I think the TTC option sounds the most painless but if it doesn't work then I will try Hugpugs polite but firm approach if I get a CM who won't let me check in without the actual AP and then if worse comes to worse I guess I will just hop on the monorail round to the MK and do it there while my DH and 3 exhausted DDs hang out in the lobby!

I was thinking we would have to go in the car, park at one of the parks and then get to the ticket office/guest relations, this is our first time onsite and I keep forgetting the Poly is on the monorail!!

Thanks again everyone, one less thing to worry about. Now just got to figure out how to make the time go faster... ;)

you will be able to check in with your voucher. 98%of the time there is no problem. you will not have one. just check in, get some sleep and when you go to your first park the next day, get it activated. do not worry one bit about having to get it activated before you check in. what you habve been hearing is worst case scenarios, and they are extremely, extremely rare.

We checked in at AKL with just our voucher in May. The CM had zero problem with it. I would not go out of my way to activate it.
