Hi. If we are staying at BCV, can guests who visit for the day use SAB? I am not sure if that would constitute pool hopping...

If they are staying overnight with you in your room on your reservation....Certainly. If not, I wouldn't chance it. You would really be embarassed if they were asked to leave.

I don't believe they would be able to use the pool as they check for room keys for each person at the pool. If they weren't staying there, they wouldn't have the necessary room key. They were checking room keys this week when the pool was basically deserted as it was a bit cool/breezy.

And that is why I think you could be embarassed. They will not have a room key.

They should check room keys at all resorts, at present the pool hopping privilege is meaningless, anyone off the street can walk into any resort and use the any of the pools with the exception of SAB confident in the knowlege they will not be challenged, I have never ever seen anyone asked for a room key or ID any any other pool, even at the GF where one of the pools and hot tubs is open 24 hours.

If you are a DVC member (and the period is not blacked out for pool hopping), you could join them at their WDW resort (as long as it is not Swan/Dolphin - no pool hopping privileges there).

If you haven't "maxed out" the capacity of your villa, maybe you could add them for the day so they could get keys?

The answer would be yes in the following situation. Lets say you are like us and book a 2 bedroom for a family of 3. You could legally have 8 so if you put the names of your guests on the reservation then they would have keys. Those legal keys would allow them to visit and use the pool with you guys. In this scenario you could have 5 guests hop with you legally.

If you are already at the occupancy limit for the room type you have booked then floow Deb & Bill's advice of hopping to their resort.

Wow, so many posts with hge potential for flames this week. Semed calm for a while. The mods must be getting a good workout this week.:rotfl:

Keep in mind that if you add the extra guests to your room reservation, you will need to purchase the Dining Plan for them also, if you are purchasing it for yourselves.

Which could be another huge benefit actually.:thumbsup2

Is the policy different at BCV in terms of having guests swim with you? WHen we were at SSR, I called the front desk with the same question - can my sister and kids swim with us as guests, and they said sure, no problem, just have them check in at the gate...

Maybe bcs SAB is so popular?

I think it is enforced more at BCV because of the popularity of SAB. In reality, if I were you, I'd call the front desk and ask. The worst they can do is say "no". I wouldn't want to just go down without asking though. I suspect you might need a pass of some sort, because SAB is checked much more regularily than other DVC resort pools.

You could always pass them yours through the fence once your in..ONLY JOKING...:rotfl2:

Mick.

I'd love to recommend calling the front desk. Problem is they don't know either. Front desk would say sure and then the guest would show up and the CM'sa checking keys would say no.

I wish we could get everyone on the same page.

You're right. Saw this a few years ago at SOB at BCV. Front desk told them guests were okay and lifeguard said no way. Of course, she may not have been so embarrassed if she hadn't of made such a scene. One lady in the group made sure to tell everyone in hearing range that "Walt Disney is a liar" and don't believe anything he says.

Uh...okay... :confused3

The front desk doesn't have any idea about the status of the pool. The lifeguards should have ultimate say so.

Wow, makes my Disboard rants seem tame. I've seen some major meltdowns at resorts.

Ahhh. .... another good post idea.

Also AKl pool has no pool hopping I think.

You're right. Forgot that one.

We will be a BCV for one night. I booked the resort for the pool since we won't be going to a park that day. Is there really a gate around it? Sounds like a secret club or something. Boy, this must be some serious pool! What's the fasination with the pool at AKL? I have never seen it.
