Say it's 25 years from now and our children want to take their families. Do we have to be present on the vacation as we'll, or can they use our points without us physically being there?
That'w why DVC members rent out their points...just keep in mind that your children (or anyone else you rent to) must abide by the same rules as the DVC member as far as the use of the room, which means you as the member are responsible for whatever your kids do to the room or common areas.
As the DVC member every contact to MS has to go through you. So if your children want a view specified, ME or DDP you have to be in on the call. But they could use their own credit card.

Your adult children will not only be able to go without you, they could book their own reservations if you make them "associate" members. They would not be owners (entitled to DVC perks) or on the deed and you would still be responsible for the dues, but they would have access to the dvc reservation system to use your points. You can revoke this privilege anytime if that doesn't work out for you. My parents did this for my sisters and I for their OKW contracts until my father passed away, and then my Mom put us all on the deeds so that we are all owners. Since we are now all on the deeds, when one of us dies, the contracts will now pass automatically to the remaining survivors (as joint tenants with right of survivorship) without having to go through probate.
