Can DPs be purchased separately...?

We have a 4 night reservation for next summer and was wondering if DPs were only for 5 nights min. (although someone else said 3 nights was the min.)

So, in that case, is it possible to add a DP to our reservation?

Thanks for any help - never done a DP before and it confuses me!

The only way a DP can be added is through the company you booked through and needs to be done before travel. You also need to have tickets on your booking as it has to be a package of hotel, tickets & DP.

I think you booked through Disney UK which has a 5 night minimum for adding the DP.

Booking through Disney US there is no minimum although you have purchase a ticket (minimum of a day for paid dining and 2 days for free dining) unless you have a AP. AP holders can book a ticketless package to buy DPs.

Thanks, that's a big help :-)

Before buying DDP just try do some figures from the menus. We have done the DDP 5 times free. Kept a speadsheet a couple of times, both times about breakeven if we had paid. That is with 2 out of 3 eating the most expensive items on the menu, using every single credit, having dessert with every meal ect. Paying out of pocket we definitely wouldn't have spent the cost of paying for DDP. I know others say they prefer to pay upfront so its paid for but I prefer to get best value for my money.

I've also made the calculation numerous times, like Wayne

My bottomline is : if you have to pay for it, it's not worth it.

And the next thing you need to consider before purchasing is how close you are to your departure.

if it's less than 6 months out, reservations have already begun. And the more you get close to your check in date, the more likely the most expensive restaurants will be booked solid, or will have availability at silly hours.

If you don't get those hard to get restaurants, there is little chance that you will reach the breakeven point.

my advice : go OOP you'll save money. And you won't have the impression to miss out or to lose money if you don't eat that dessert when you're already stuffed with the entrée only ... just don't order it and save.

I know we would have been way behind had we paid for the DDP in the summer - it still worked out the best discount for us as it was combined with 35% off at OKW. I would never buy it as we just do not eat the way the paln wants. I do not want or need dessert with my lunch! Snack credits were used for sweets which we have brought home and they are still sitting in my kitchen nearly 2 months later!

Thats a good point about the restaurants - the ones that most people consider to be "good value" are not were we want to eat!

I am getting fussier in that I want good quality and good tasting food. I don't mind the cost (either cheap or expensive) and I don't consider you get that at the most popular restaurants as they know that they can serve up sub par food and people will still go. :rolleyes1

Thanks for all the advice, everyone. We looked at menus and prices, and rejigged the holiday a bit, and decided to do 5 nights at POFQ with the free dining plan. Spoke to a really lovely lady on the phone at Disney who made all the alterations to our reservation. Their customer service is excellent!! So excited!!
