Can Disney Gift Cards be used everywhere???

My family and I are going to Disney in February and a few of my extended family members will be giving my kids Disney gift cards for Christmas. My middle daughter just informed me she wants to get some big Lego set at the store in Downtown Disney, do they take Disney gift cards as payment? Other Downtown Disney stores?

The Disney GCs are only valid at places actually owned by Disney. You cannot use them at most of the shops and restaurants in DtD that are brand-specific like the Lego store. Perhaps she can "exchange" her GCs with you for the cash needed to buy the Legos and you can use the Disney GCs to pay for something else during your stay?

Interesting. My nephew tried to use a Disney GC there in the summer of 2012 and he was told no. I wonder if they have changed their payment system so that it can read and accept Disney GCs?

Thank you! Either way I would trade them for cash with her so she could get what she wanted, just curious if they accepted the cards as form of payment.

Be careful of Disney Gift Cards. If they say on them Disney "Store" they can only be used in The Disney Store or the online Disney Store. If they do not say "store" on them, they can be used at any Disney location.

We buy Disney gift cards and charge everything back to our room. Then each few days, we go down to the desk and pay the balance off with the gift cards. We have never actually carried the cards around to pay at various places, but do know that we can charge everything back to the room and use the gift cards that way.

The Disney Giftcard version sold at Target was used at many DTD stores back in June. Never had any issues at any stores -- including Lego and that "soap" store.
