Planning for a December 2006 trip. Can we use the dining plan for reserved seating for Fantasmic and/or Candlelight Processional?

I know the Dining plan works for Fantasmic, because I asked when I made ADR's. They will take a credit card guarantee but not charge anything unless you don't cancel in advance.

I don't know about Candlelight Processional as we aren't going then. I think I've read that it works but don't quote me on that...

We used the dining plan for the CP this year. I thought it was a great value as it cost less to use the Dining Plan than out of pocket for the experience. CP was a real treat!

You don't need the dinner package to get into Fantasmic. I would only get it if I were visiting during a busy park time (you aren't) and I wanted to attend the first showing without spending 90 minutes or so waiting for the show to begin.

You are visiting during one of the slower park times. If I were going the dates you list, I would not purchase the dinner package unless I planned to eat dinner at one of the dinner package restaurants anyway. JMHO.

Thank you CarolMN,
I really not want to eat at MGM TS just to get in to the show. I have been to The Brown Derby and Mama Melrose and I want to try some place else, and Hollywood & Vine's Buffet isn't on my "to do" list. So I am relief to know I don't have to do that. I want to try Spoodles at broadwalk since I heard it is close to MGM. Do you think I will make it to the show if I have a early dinner, like 5?

I'd allow about an hour for dinner and at least 30 minutes to take the boat to MGM from the BW. IMHO, if there isn't a boat in sight, it is faster to walk to MGM. My advise is to be at the theater about 30 minutes ahead of show start if you want a seat.

Don't know know the schedule for Fantasmic for your dates - if it's earlier than 7:30, I'd advise either scheduling Spoodles for another night or having dinner after Fantasmic. The BW area can be fun at night, so eating late isn't a bad idea (if you don't have little ones to worry about).

If you use the dining plan for CP, is it a special menu like Fantasmic?
Unless there are different arrangements for Dining Plan users (doubt it) vs those who pre-pay for the CP Dinner packages, you chose from the regular menu. IIRC, only the lobster entrees are excluded.

There is a reserved section for CP Dinner Package guests. Seating within the reserved section is first come, first served.

If Dinner Package guests do not arrive at the theater at least 15 minutes prior to show, they may not be able to find a seat in the reserved section, as standby guests are allowed to sit in any vacant seats at that time.

We generally get in the special line for dinner package guests about 30 - 45 minutes prior to show start and always get very good seats. We go in late November or early December. You may have to get in line even earlier if you attend closer to Christmas.

OK i'm thinking way ahead. I'm planning my first Disney family vacation we have two boys who will be 4 and 6. I need to plan.

I'm interested in seeing the fantasmic show in MGM. I am planning to go on a wednesday - not sure if i'm going at a busy time or not since lots of schools have already started. but its also before Labor day weekend. Anyway i really wanted to eat at that sci-fi restaurant but want good seats for the show. Do you think i need to do the dinner show? can just i go in to the show early and hold seats for my husband and kids?

thanx.
