Can Disney Change...?

Can Disney change the perameters of 11/7 month booking windows or is it contractually set? Also, has that window always been that way?

I am debating between some add-on contracts and with a young family am looking at a long-term horizon. I get that no one has a crystal ball, but was curious if the window is somehow set in stone or not.

It seems like it could be a lever they pull in the future if needed

The legal requirement is that there is at least one month speparation between the home resort booking period and everyone else. There is no way for them to differentiate the booking window between direct and resale.

They can change the number of months, but there will allways be a home resort advantage.

Its always been 11/7 and I doubt they will change it. They need to make sure the advantage is large enough to sell the current high priced direct resort, and they need to keep the non home resort window long enough that people can make plans.

I'm not home to check but I seem to recall it was different in the original documents but changed prior to opening. I believe it's always been 11/7 at least in practice even if I'm wrong on the original wording (which had less free passes than later and only allowed 50% banking). They can change about anything they want but without a vote of the membership I don't think the 1 month home resort priority is changeable though there are things they could do just like when they started allowing 7 days at a pop, they could go to 14 or back to a single day at a time if they wanted. Just realize that EVERYTHING is changeable even the things that are contractual, a few would almost certainly require the actual membership to vote which I doubt we'll ever see. You'll see/hear a lot of things that are reported as not possible that are in deed possible without direct member input.
